Mikey Hammons: Rhino for Life

The Richmond Rhinos and Mikey “The Hammer” Hammons have mutually agreed to part ways after failing to reach terms on a future salary agreement.
A homegrown talent drafted and developed by the Rhinos, Hammons became a cornerstone of the franchise and far outperformed expectations. He played a key role in the team’s successful first Division 3 season, helping lead the Rhinos to a 3rd place conference finish.
In recognition of his impact, Hammons has been inducted into the Richmond Rhinos Hall of Fame, and his iconic No. 40 jersey has been officially retired.
With Hammons’ era now closed, the Rhinos are evaluating their next steps — whether it’s a full rebuild or something in between.
