Press Announcements

Iran loss brings changes to NZ U21

Last Sunday NZ lost to Iran in what could be seen as the best chance of the season for an upset (The 5 wins before this I expected, I also expected the 4 losses, this was a loss that I thought we had the best chance of pulling off a huge upset). The final score was 85-65, and truth be told we were never really close (we lost all 4 quarters).

MVP:

3 Points: Alun Misstear
2 Points: Dain Gilhooley
1 Point: Vincent Arkless

The last game of the season is a dead rubber for us, against a team we have already lost to, and we also have no more enthus left. For those reasons I have decided to reward the best trained players of the season with a game (hoping the merch bonus will help out the managers). Below are the amount of pops for each starter this season (the amount of primary position pops is in brackets):

PG: 7 (7)
SG: 8 (8)
SF: 9 (8)
PF: 10 (7)
C: 10 (8)

On a side note, my own 21yo trainee had 11 pops, so the training of our team has a long way to go before we can think about improving. Some players had as little as 4 pops over the whole season!!

I will so create a new forum thread where I will list the a large selection of players for a wider training squad for next season. If you have a player list in it and want to know how to get your guy on the team please PM me.
