If I play a Quarter-final game and lose, in total I get half of the turnover from one match.
Teams, from 5th to 7th places plays relegation games, at least two and gets money from both games. So in theory, you earning more money by playing minimum two games in relegation games.
So in some situations, it is better to finish 5th and play two games against 7th team and get more money than finishing 4th and knowing that you will lose against 1st team and will get paid just half from one match. I think this part is a bit not logic an not fair.

Am I right with this thinking, or I'm missing something?

Yes relegation is about the same if it goes to 3 games and better if it's 2 games, but you always have the chance of playing 3 and demote. In any case, yes, #4 seed has never been a great spot to be in unless you had a real chance at upsetting the #1 seed. In the past #5 did not play relegation and did not pay salary for 2 weeks, so it was definitely a better spot most of the times, now it's more balanced than it used to.

What I'm thinking there should be extra one time TV money to teams who make playoffs. Playoff games are all TV games anyway. It can eliminate that problem
