Season 55! This will be my 4th season as the coach of this team and I have to say the current roster is the worst one so far... Lots of 73-78 TSPs, 19 year olds who are not good enough just yet, managers telling me they are training their players even though their TSP has been the same for weeks. The list goes on and on.

Therefore, do not expect a lot of wins this season. I will decide on a roster of around 14 players next week (before the enthusiasm reset, of course). Most of these players will be 19 and 20 years old. We shouldn't care about winning now, our players are simply not good enough. So let's focus on future seasons: I want to encourage managers to train their 19 or 20 year old Scottish players. There is some great talent and potential around: Lochiel, MacCooish, Chapp, Lawson, Philipson, MacMaurice, Gossett, MacKersey, MacKirdy, Neil etc. etc. WE JUST NEED TO TRAIN THEM! It's that simple.
By playing U21 games now, their experience will also go up, which will be useful for all future NT players.

Hi, it's up to you to make a decision.
But I am in favor of all teams playing official games to the maximum of their capabilities. Friendly games are entirely at the discretion of the coach.
In addition, the Consolidation tournament is much weaker in terms of the composition of participants, and it is not known in advance how good the draw will be.

I do not agree in this case but it's ok if we have different opinions. If it is guaranteed that the young players get perfect training and will advance to the NT, it would be be best (imho) to give them as much experience as can be achieved. That doesn't mean that you have to leave out great 21y olds. But if you have a 19y old with 78 TSp and a 21y old with similar skills but maybe 81 TSP, I'd usually decide for the younger guy as he is the future of the u21 and possibly NT. If you have less than 90 TSP when a players turns 21, it's almost impossible to get him into the NT. Might work in Scotland for a couple of seasons yet, but I'm not sure (and hope!) it won't stay like that. So in this case, the Highlander would have my support. But we can discuss further of course and a compromise is almost always possible to be reached.
