Press Announcements

Jamaica U-21 Welcomes Andorra To Jamrock, wins 101-86

b]Jamrock Arena A crowd of 5000 gathered to see Jamaica's new look U21 square off against a heavily favored Andorra.

The game opened with both teams testing each other out and neither establishing a significant run. Pesky defensive and low turnovers helped the home team sneak the first quarter away by 2 points.

Andorra's loose "took it easy" defense would start piling up fouls, leading to a break out run that allowed Jamaica to find their rhythm and go into halftime up by 14.

The 2nd half would be more hotly contested. Andorra's defense would continue to foul. They would end up sending Jamaica to the line 20 times of which they earned 22 points. The J21's defense stayed energized, contesting 62% of Andorra's shots while committing only 10 fouls.

Andorra SG R. Masachs' game high 30 points (13-21 FGs, 3 pts) would not be enough to stop the tide of gold and green. 23 total assists propelled seven players into double digits led by SG M. Sagrera's 21 (10-17 FGs) led. Big men L. Smith (14 pts./15 rbs) and B. Jones (12 pts/15 rbs) added double-doubles to clinch the first NT tournament seeding game of the season by 15.
