Jamaica roughs up Uruguay

Americas U21 Tournament Pool B
Jamaica 75
Uruguay 101

Uruguay started off effective against the younger Jamaica. Keeping them on their heels to end the first up by 14.

Outgunned, Jamaica hit back hard in the second. Throwing Uruguay’s smooth sailing into rough waters with aggressive defense and hard fouls. With :57 left in the first half, starting PF D. Vacca would leave the game after a monster hit from backup bigman B. Jones. A visibly shaken Uruguay led at halftime comfortably by 38.

Jamaica roared out of the break with force. Slowing down Uruguay’s bigs and taking the 3rd quarter 26-20.

SF A. Hawkes lit up the scoreboard for a game high 50 points but it woudn’t be enough. Uruguay eventually found their rhythm and their frontcourt would combine for 62 pts including 19 pts and 12 boards from center A. Shaw.

Uruguay starts off U21 Americas playwith a win while Jamaica looks to get back on the winning track against Chile on June 4th.

Not a bad showing, considering a few of the players are 18yos that haven't been touched yet, training wise.
