Chunks Stumble into All Star Break

This season, the Chucks roster is supposed to be its strongest ever. This season, expectations were for a winning record. This season, the Chunks were hoping to contend for a playoff spot.

This season has been a disaster.

Limping into the All Star with a three-game losing streak, the Chunks are sporting a disappointing 4-9 record and sitting in 6th place and only one game better than dead last. With two other teams also at 4-9 and little room for error heading into the last leg of the season, the pressure is on for the Chunks to right the ship and win enough games to avoid 8th place, and maybe avoid yet another relegation playoff. An early Cup Tournament exit and a dismal record are the makings of the worst season in New York Chunks history. It will take a miraculous turnaround in the season’s fortunes to salvage any hope for next season.

The Chunks have not added any players to the team thus far, and the quality of the team has improved steadily since entering the league. However, the quality of the competition seems to have also improved considerably so that there are no easy games on the schedule to go along with the usual handful of impossible games. With only a month left before the end of the regular season, it’s time for the Chunks to make a stand or face the possibility of demotion back to D.III.
