It wasn't enough - Egypt wins only its first game and finishes last in the group. It wasn't quite the performance, which Fairness' hype promised. Injured players, bad shapes and very good opponents didn't make it easy for the squad, but Fairness was only angry because of his own mistakes.
Press: "Fairness, how'd you describe your feelings about this year's World Cup?"
FN: "It hurts a bit. After a good preparation, we played one of the greatest games I've ever seen in my young career, the game against Hong Kong. With 1-0 we went into the game against the French squad, we were motivated and ready to suprise everyone in this world. We were right there, with 8 points in front, but I still remember those horrible last minutes of the game in which we simply got destroyed. Our enthusiasm was low, our shapes were really bad, nobody was expecting much from then on, so we hadn't got any chance against Chile, Spain and China. I should be happy about everything, my goal was to win one game which we did, but right now I can't really say that I'm happy about this WC result."
Press: "What would you say were the main reasons for those four losses? I mean, HKG beat two teams after the game against Egypt, why haven't you done the same?"
FN: "You're right, we had our chances, HKG's enthusiasm was lower than ours, our shapes were quite equal. The main reason was that I made many mistakes in my coaching, and I'm really pissed because of that. Against France we had a great gameplan, but from then on, I wasn't really motivated. In the three following games I was waaaay too defensive oriented, even more than I am normally (yes that's difficult). And maybe I should have taken the risk of one or two more CTs, maybe I made some mistakes in the recruiting of my roster, maybe maybe maybe."
Press: "How do you want to react now?"
FN: "I want to play against some good teams in scrimmages, I want to show what we're really able to do on the court. I think about one more recruit, El-Amal, who really trains well this season, he's ready in the next weeks. I also think about working here in S19 and S20 too, I have the feeling that I've got to make some things better. We'll see."
Press: "Sounds good! Any last words?"
FN: "Yes. I want to thank Z and simas for their help during the World Cup. I also hope that some guys get more active in our forum, it get's a bit boring in here..."
