With the new season fast approaching and the Senior World Championship & Consolation Tournament upon us, we will start our journey with a scrimmage against Rossiya on Monday. Hours after that will be the start of our Last Chance Qualifiers for the World Championship. Our schedule looks like this:
2 Aug vs Italia
9 Aug vs Mexico
16 Aug vs Misr

Our goal is to reach the World Championship. We will try to win all our games. Every game is a must win. Failure to do so will put us in the Consolation Tournament with a 0-2 record. Hence, I'm asking everyone to help keep our National Team players in great game shape in the coming weeks, whether they were already in the team last season or in the fringe of making it.

Maraming salamat sa lahat.

Laban Pilipinas!

Italia stomped Pilipinas, 97-78

First game of the last chance qualifiers and Italia came out of the gates with guns blazing. The first half was a beatdown thanks to Italia's better effort throughout the game. Pilipinas tried on the second half but was hold off by the Italians.

Dingdong Fornoles (16pts, 2ast, 8-14 from the field) and Royce Cardino (14pts, 7rebs, 7-13 from the field) tried to keep the team afloat but can only do so much. Leorio Lovino struggled to shoot the ball but managed to dish out a game-high 7asts.

Next week will be against Mexico. A must win for us although the World Championship window is closing in with Italia leading the table.

I'm asking all NT coaches to keep your players in great shape. Please continuously support the team and our program. Maraming salamat sa suporta.

Laban Pilipinas!

Pilipinas fails Repechage bid to World Championship, will play in the Consolation Tournament instead

Due to our defeat against the Italians in our first repechage game, our WC dream was pretty much over. However, we still managed to win our next two games in hopes of a miracle that didn't come.

With the Consolation Tournament upon us and starting 0-2, we will need to win all 6 games in the coming weeks. I am asking for everyone's support and cooperation in keeping our National Team players, and those on the fringe of making it, in great game shape. It will be tough but we need to strive to win the Consolation Tournament, or at least make the knockout stage. There are heavy hitters still but they will come if we can advance deep in the tournament.

I would like to thank fpanzer10 (54605) for making a write up on last week's game against Mexico and KVI (54537) for helping with the scouting this season. Special thanks as well to our vets and coaches in our community training and helping out our National Team progress. Keep up the good work!

Laban Pilipinas!

Pilipinas defeat UAE, 118-63

6 players for Pilipinas scored in double digits led by Leorio Lovino with 20 pts (7 asts & 4 rebs). Pete Libron and Jeffrey Fresnillo took majority of our boards in this game grabbing 18 and 13, respectively. Off the bench, Raymund Duraliza contributed 17 pts and dished out 3 asts in 18 minutes of play while Arby Monegro scored 16 pts, on 6-7 shooting, and grabbed 7 rebs. We got outrebounded on the offensive boards, 21-9, but led in total rebounds, 61-48, and still managed to win.

Next week will be against the Swiss at home. Homecourt should help us but we won't be taking this game lightly. Similar to every game we've played so far, we will do our best to win this one. I thank everyone for keeping in great shape our National Team players and those on the verge of making it. Looking forward to having great shape again next week to keep our momentum going.

Maraming salamat sa lahat ng suporta at tulong. Laban Pilipinas!

Pilipinas beat Schweiz, 105-70

Led by Jeffrey Fresnillo (18pts, 13rebs) and Leorio Lovino (15pts, 6asts, 3rebs), the team cruised against the Swiss with Pilipinas playing at home. Off the bench, it was Royce Cardino (14pts, 7rebs, 2asts) and Arby Monegro (13pts, 3rebs, 3asts) who kept the team afloat.

Next week will be a tough match against Bulgaria at home. I am asking again for all the owners of our NT players to keep them in great shape for the coming weeks. We need to win every game ahead in order for us to have a better position in the knockout phase.

We only have 1 remaining spot left so if your player did not make it this season, do let me know so we can assess and see what needs to improve for him to make the team next season.

Maraming salamat at laban Pilipinas!

Pilipinas defends homecourt. Dealt Bulgaria their first loss, 90-59

A tightly contested 2nd quarter got out of hand thanks to Pilipinas' 3rd quarter scoring. Both teams struggled to shoot the ball well throughout the game due to impeccable defense on both sides of the court. Leorio Lovino led the team in scoring with 19pts on 8 of 18 shooting. Off the bench, it was James Mabaquiao who helped the team with 16pts and 6rebs.
The team outrebounded Bulgaria 73-50 (21-11 offensive boards). 3 players grabbed double-digit rebounds; Jeffrey Fresnillo with the double-double 10pts, 19rebs & 2blks, Royce Cardino with 4pts, 12rebs, 2asts & 2blks and Pete Libron with 4pts, 17rebs, 5blks and 4asts.

Next week, we will be travelling to Danmark for a match against the Danes who dropped their last 2 games on the road against Portugal and Hong Kong.

The team is looking forward to having another great week in terms of game shape. Generally, our game shape so far this season has been great. Please keep up the good work and continue supporting the National Team.

Maraming salamat. Laban Pilipinas!

Panthers win against Denmark, 85-63

The Philippines earned a key win against Denmark, beating them, 85-63.

Although De rød-hvide prepared for the match by guarding the perimeter and not allowing the Panthers convert a single-three pointer in 10 attempts, they made up for with a very strong finish at the foul line. "We outhustled the Danes today. You can't win if you are outrebounded (62-39) and make way less trips to the line (34-18), coach Raddy said after the match. 29 year-old Jacinto Estorninos led a balanced attack with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block in 26 minute of action.

Filipino fans were celebrating after the game, playing 25 Minutes by Michael Learns to Rock at the parking lot. 'We're thinking maybe they can beat us if there was another 25 minutes," said a fan, who chose to remain anonymous. The small crowd of at least 50 fans were very confident, chanting 'Kakayanin yan!' and 'Laban Pilipinas!' as the Panthers team bus left the arena. "The team can win their remaining games against Hungary and Cyprus, it's a matter of by how many points," Another fan said.

The Philippines (3-2) is logjammed with 19 other countries, and with 9 of 19 countries relegated from the Top 32, winning by a very comfortable margin is part of the Panthers' gameplan. "We will celebrate the win today. Tomorrow, we will go back to train against Hungary," Estorninos said.

Canada sends Pilipinas packing, 85-60

And that's it for us in this competition. They Crunched our Normal (plus HCA) and we were not able to get close throughout the game. Wouldn't even matter if we CT then as they already CT'd us.

Malaysia will have homecourt for next season's Asia Championship so let us all prepare for that.

I would like to take this time to take everyone who are managing our NT player and those training for our future. As well as the vets and everyone else behind the scenes providing guidance and perspective. Looking forward to seeing our future team prosper with more and more managers training.

Don't shy away on asking from seasoned trainers for training advise. Join our group chats if you wish. The Pilipinas National Teams can only grow with the help of everyone in the community.

Again, maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumuporta at sumusuporta sa ating National Team. Kanya-kanyang preparation muna tayo for league playoffs. Good luck sa lahat.

Laban Pilipinas!
