How did everyone go with their rookies in the draft?

I think I need to review my method in the draft. My #41 pick was better than my highest #9 pick

Hi mate.

Really? Just looking at salary, Siegle (Pick 9) seems better than Education (Pick 41) although I can't see skill distribution. Love the Pink Floyd reference with Education btw! Awesome. +1 just for that.

As for drafting method...

I should have gone with the one I had been advised of previously by someone who regularly drafts MVPs and HOFers. Mind you, I still managed to score a $12k 19yo Allstar. He will turn out great with many seasons of training ahead of him.

The 'Method' which I should have followed preceisely is simple enough:

-You need 80+ points (If your spending max each week (6 points) then that is enough (14 x 6 = 84 points)
-You spend the first 50 on the 5 demos (eg Gather& Shoot, Extra Pass etc) = 50 points. After doing this you can see the TSP of every player.
-You then spend the 2 x 10 (20 points) on the Scouting Combine and Group Demonstration.
-At this point you will start to see more clearly who is and isn't worth scouting and interviewing (that hasn't already been scouted).
-This leaves you with 14 points to scout & interview those who fit what you want or who are likely 5/5 players.
-Personally, I am tweaking this method now. I am going to do a season of 3-4 points per week, followed by a seaosn of 6 points per week. I will then have 100 points to spend and absolutely ensure I see every single player worth seeing.

Now, before peeps get on here and state the obvious: 'That's too much money and isn't justified," I would disagree. This will always depend on your finances and/or what you need for your team. If you seriously want at least 2 x 5/5 18 yo rookies, then the above method will give you the ultimate chance of finding them.

This is also beneficial for a team like mine which is Home Grown and needs great 19 year olds initially, then 5/5 18 year olds.

For example, I had choices this draft gone to secure a couple 5/5 18 year olds who turned out to be MVPs, but I instead opted for lower potential, high-salary 19 year olds to boost my young HG team (young as in my 2nd season as being HG now). I have got bang for my buck. Why? I needed to win some games as the finanical hit for tanking was great last season.

So, yeah, it all depend on your situation.

Anyway, my 2 cents worth.

Good luck this seaosn and in the next draft, Elnoth.

G'day all, sorry for crashing your page.
For those of you who don't know me I'm the current National Team manager for Aus (thanks for the recent re-election). I'm going to pop this message into a lot of the league boards seeking some feedback. I'd like to set up a bit of a think tank about what a "modern" National team build/squad/training plan might look like to help push our National team a little higher. I think it's fair to say despite having a reasonable squad in terms of what had traditionally been the desired builds for a National player we're not getting over the line in some wins I feel we should, so I'm looking to do some knowledge gathering in the off-site forum and brainstorm how we can push the National team a little higher in the rankings and win some silverware again.

If you'd like to be involved shoot me a DM (or if you are already linked into the off-site for the National Team jump on and share your ideas).
I've started posting some skill sets of National Team players from other sides as they come up for sale in the off-site forums to get a comparison of what some of the more recently successful nations are doing just for a point of reference.

Would love some feedback.

Good luck this season!

Deano
