I would agree with this. I personally love SBing everywhere. Almost all my key players have a good amount of SBing.

My starting 5 players combine to have 45 SB skill points in it, which is pretty high compared to most teams, I believe and it is definitely apparent in my games. In my two playoff games that I have had, I've put up 14 blocks and 17 blocks. I believe I averaged around 11 blocks a game this season, but that is counting in the games in which I did not have my now-starting 85k Center.

So if:
14 ID + 13 SB > 20 ID + 7 SB
then:
14 ID + 13 SB - 14 ID - 7 SB > 20 ID + 7 SB - 14 ID - 7 SB
6 SB > 6 ID
SB > ID
Is that really true?
So then:
20 SB + 7 ID should be even better than 14 ID + 13 SB.

there is an math unclear idea in your calculation. If the gap between sb (or is) 1 and 2 is the same than 19 and 20, you're right. Instead, if the difference is greater increasing the level, is different deleting 14 id to 20 and 7 sb to 13. What is right?

yer i think you have simplified it a little bit.
There are no two skills that work in isolation in the game (in my opinion) - except for maybe FT.

Low ID and high SB tends to lead to more fouls - in my experiences. so a 20SB 7ID would probably lead to lots of fouls as well.

the two skills go hand in hand though and compliment each other. SB makes the players ID (and OD) better, OD and ID will help a player block more shots (as opposed to fouling a lot).

ahhhhh Nachtmahr you missed something very important.
those of us whom did believe your stats - secretly banded together and promised to NEVER EVER publically talk about the benefits of Shot blocking.
thus whording the informaiton for ourselves, in a secret shot blocking cult like group.
mention of the topic was to be met with repurcusions so horrible i cannot mention them here.

in all seriousness - dont be offended - many people did believe you. or already had similar ideas which were simply reinforced statistically. so well done there.

i personally don't think SB and ID need to be EXACTLY the same. certainly a big difference causes problems like high fouling . But certainly i feel like having - even a 3 or 4 point difference, is acceptable. My guys currently have a 2 and 3 point difference between SB and ID (with SB being higher) and i don't really see this as a problem.

Further to the discussion in this thread which idon't think has been mentioned thus far, but i do remember being mentioned by Nachtmahr, is Rebounding.

Higher SB cost/capping can be offset by reducing the level of Rebounding that you have - I think the assumption that people make is that you need to keep all your other skills at the same level and then add more SB. But this is not true.
Introducing SB i feel means you can reduce the level of ID that you need - but also the level of RB. almost a direct swap out. 2 points of RB and 2 points of ID make 4 points of SB.
