Well, that hurts. I was pretty sure they wouldn’t go with LI and either go with LP or PtB. So I decided to put a half GDP. Turns out I bet on the wrong horse (is that even a saying in Scotland?). Anyway. Let‘s hope that despite the wrong GDP we‘ll have a shot at winning this game. Winning it is almost impossible as Norway is way better than us and did not underestimate us. But we‘ll see...

Well, I guess it was still worth a try. But even without the wrong GDP, we probably would have lost. The third quarter killed us. But still - a nice enough effort of our (mainly) old guys. I really wanted to win that game but hey - we're not there yet. We also need a lot of luck, even better GS and most importantly: more young guys that get perfect training. But we're working on that, aren't we? So we'll have to be patient for now ... thanks for sticking with me. Even though it's mostly losses as I "promised" .. (and I really don't like losing at all, just to make that clear ...)

Not much to say. I wanted to win that game. And would have. If not for Rory‘s injury after 11 minutes. And with Doles in better GS we still would have won. But losing that game really sucks. Even if I promised you I‘d not win many games and be the worst NT manager if you just looked at the win-loss-ratio. But ok. That‘s life. It‘s still not a bad season. the two 22y olds did a good job today and earn precious experience. Next season, more young guys will join the team. And. that shall be the start of a new scottish team that will be competitive in about 6-7 seasons, with some luck even a bit earlier...

Thaks for helping me and communicating with me (even if it sometimes takes a couple of days or more to reply)...

Losing by 2 is tough, especially since we had two chances to win the game in the last 15 seconds. Great comeback - no reward...

Yes, can't be helped. Even though I expected something like that I still don't like losing games. Especially not those where there's a great chance to win it ...

First of possibly up to three games against England. It was a long shot to try to win the game but I had some small hopes with Doles and Spens in good GS and HCA on our side. Didn’t work out. Only during the second quarter. But hey, -25 isn‘t too bad, allthings considered. We had a starting 5 debut by Lyle, being subbed by Fitchy. And wow: they know their homecourt well, it seems. Lyle scoring 12 points and dishing out a game high 9 (!) assists. I hope we‘ll see more of those stats regularly in the future. And Fitchy going 3-3 for 6 points. Looking good. Next week (on our away game in England) we‘ll probably be seeing the debut of 2-3 21 y old players. Highlander is very kind to let them get off the roster early to join our NT roster which is rapidly decreasing its average age...I really hope to be reading the names of those young players during the next 10-15 seasons on the boxscores...

Cheers everyone!

Well, how about that? The defeat was sure before the game even started - but how it played out was pretty nice for a couple of our players. Led by: Peter Lyle!

Last week: leading the way with 9 assists. This week. Coming off the bench and leading the way with 28 (!) points. He is trying to take on the leading role of the new team early on. Great game! But just as an aside: how about giving him more than 48 minutes every week? 60-75 would be perfect and would probably help keeping him at GS 9 ... Also his experience (which is really important) will increase faster if he plays around 70 minutes in league games (or even better: the cup).

The old guy Gary MacPhedran in one of his last NT games also quite impressive with 22 points, 9 rebounds. And showing his aggressiveness with 6 Fouls.

Another of the future stars: Alistair Boyd, making his debut whilst scoring in double digits, hitting one from downtown, grabbing a couple of boards and dishing out a couple of assists for his teammates. I'm really looking forward to see his improvements every week from now on. Looking forward to loads of green arrows!

Somerled Spens: THE one big guy that is finally in perfect GS and contributing to the game. And he did ask for advice concerning his future training. So there's some hope that we'll make a great player out of Semerled instead of a good one!

Bradley MacShimes had an ok debut, scoring his first 3 points. But there's a lot of room for improvement. And he's working hard to become one of the leading guards of the new team!

And Charles MacGillonie in one of his last games as a starter showing why he's one of the best players in scottish history with 170 games played, more than 2000 points scored and the only one to dish out more than 700 assists (a game high 8 today).

Kevin Duffy also with his first points for the NT. He did receive training every week but didn't yield one up. That'll make it hard for him to join the team next season because the young guys are getting better pretty fast ... but we'll not give up on him. Maybe the green arrows will start to show starting this friday.

So all things considered: great game. 3 of four quarters were pretty close. I'm really looking forward to the next couple of games to see how the young guys will earn experience and get ready for the next season!

Take care everyone!!

60-75 minutes, I can do that from next week on

Boyd is close to pops in several skills, I am hoping he gets 4-5 more this season.

Great! And I wouldn’t mind if he got those pops all at once this friday.

I was so happy last week because of all the green arrows that I kind of forgot to write a recap of our last game of the three-game-series against England. We lost by -25. Again. So at least we didn't get worse in comparison to the first game. And since we also had a couple of younger guys play more minutes, I'd count that as improvement!

back to the green arrows. Somerled Spens didn't have the best GS, but had two (!!) green arrows which make him better and I sure hope that there are still more to come to make him a leading player for the next 6-8 seasons. Also because his GS did improve overall. That's why the game took place in his home-arena!

Brian Tweedie got his 100th TSP last week. Amazing! That's why he got some minutes (also because of his great GS). It might be his last season on the NT, even one of his last games. But his OD is still the highest on the team. Conclusion: we need way more defense on both ends of the floor. More OD. And of course everything from the frontcourt players.

Lyle and Fitchy are getting better every week (also green arrows again this week). That's great! Lyle also got the knack for his GS. Whereas Fitchy is only getting a couple of minutes now because he is producing green arrows. We need them in perfect GS almost every game. And if not at GS 9, then an 8. But since the highlander already started to get the minutes up for them, that'll only be a matter of time. And maybe also get a sports psychologist lvl 2-4, not too expensive and helping keep GS high as well...

This week Kevin Duffy finally got an up after a season of training. It's questionable if he makes the team next season because he hasn't improved a lot and the young guys are training way faster. But we'll see.

MacShimes got two ups this week. He is on the way to become a great LI-Guard for the team. But he also needs way more defense like everyone. So it's still a work-in-progress ...

MacGillonie got a double down in OD. So he is quite unlikely to come back next season. Only reason to have him as a backup is his constantly high GS.

David Doles is still too good to be retired but without high GS, he's unlikely to play a lot. But I'll keep him on the roster - otherwise he can get fired and then he'll retire for sure because no one will pay 500k for him.

Rory MacChlerich is still the best player on the team. But almost never in anything close to good GS. Last week he was ok and scored 38 points. So he'll be a part of the team next season to help occasionally, even if he gets a couple of downs he's too good to ignore. Would just be great if we could use him more. On the other hand: that leaves more minutes for Lyle & Co.

Today we play against Belarus on neutral court. Not much to say. We'll lose and I hope, the players get some more experience in order to get better and be able to beat Belarus in a couple of seasons ...

I guess you guys have already guessed: I like Peter Lyle quite a lot. He‘s not only getting green arrows every other week and has great GS - he also has led the way in scoring twice and once in assists. And he‘s probably the youngest player to have entered the top three in scoring in his premier season with the NT. He might not stay there but chances are that he‘ll continue to improve and score....I‘ll just have to persuade his manager that he needs training every week like Boyd. ;)

I hope Lyle doesn’t always have to score almost half the teams points. And if he does, I‘d like to have a win alongside his scoring in the future. But the young guys look promising and if we get the frontcourt-gap closed, the future looks very good!
