New season ahead - Season 56

New season already started but only today we have our first game. In 6h we are meeting with Panama. We know the first game in the season is always a tough one so let's cheer for Indo NT for the win!

This season we have 2 veterans, 2 legends retiring from NT squad due to their age and anticipated skills drop.
Nikson Mandagi (42083595) - best scorer in NT history, 2nd best in games played. A true legend of the NT. Will be missed for sure
Imran Roekito (42083554) - 9th place in all time scorers, 2nd best rebounder

These two guys were the leaders 2 season ago, with Mandagi leading the scorers with 355 points (in a single season!) and Imran with 130 rebounds! And that was not their best NT season at all! Thanks to their managers for all the training and minutes. Great job, fellows!

on the other hand, we have one new face in the roster
Galang Surbakti (47723539) - most improved player of the last season, coached by sionk (50573), who already has couple of NT players as well. Nice job coach, keep up the great work.
Also shout-out to other managers who are keeping and improving the players.

As for the season plans, we have 2 games scheduled already, we'll try to win first 2 games and then we will wait to see the draw and our schedule for the season. Hopefully we will have more success than in previous one.

Indonesia vs. Panama 109 - 106 (63431)

Huh, a nail-biter in the first round. Luckily, it went to our side! So I've missed the GDP that helped the opponent in a way. Now, I'm surprised that our game-coach decided not to bring any other players into to game! This is funny and interesting from the game engine.

But a win is a win, we move on. Next week we are playing vs Ireland, it will be a much stronger opponent than in the first round

Ireland vs. Indonesia 77 - 119 (63468)

one more win today for us. The game where result might have been known prior to the match, not because we are that stronger but because opponent had a really bad game shape for their star player.
We got some new faces in the backup squad who showed up nicely today.

Next is the draw for the 2nd stage, so now we wait to see our new opponents

Uruguay vs. Indonesia 116 - 109 (63513)

A pity for the loss today because of more effort we have put then the opponent. It was a tough and close game, decided only after 2nd overtime. At some point in the 4th quarter we have had a couple of points lead, but till the end of the quarter we were lucky to get into the overtime.
Moving to next games, we will see if we would have more luck in the next rounds

Indonesia vs. Malta 92 - 82 (63543)

interesting win for us today. surprisingly not very comfortable win but we are struggling with game shape this season.
on the other side, my guess that we will prevail from the SF position with a player who is more a PF turned out to be a good prediction. certainly a game winner for us.
other important, and yet interesting event - lots of personal fouls from both PFs today where opponent's PF exited the game very early with 6 fouls and being the best player for them till that point. After that I think it was just one way street having in mind our tactics for today

Indonesia vs. Danmark 76 - 85 (63605)

One tough loss for us today. Denmark has proven to be in the good run this season and they had the home advantage. Despite that, I thought we could make a surprise on their court if we guess with GDP and we did guess it for the outside tactics.
I think there were 2 decision makers today: home court advantage and their PF has stayed in the game for a whole half with 5 personal fouls.
Up to 2 minutes to end we were even or we had a minimal lead. Then a series of turnovers propelled them to +6. We made to recover to -2 with their ball possession but game engine decided to go with a foul on our side, letting them shoot 2 ft and getting away to +4. After that it was one way streeet: we were missing the 3p shots, they were making the FTs

România vs. Indonesia 104 - 95 (63648)

unfortunately, one more loss against somewhat stronger team. Turning point of the game was the 6th personal fault of our starting SG after which opponent prevail the result advantage to their favour.
Except that nothing much to say. This will most likely leave us out of the playoffs which was the goal for the season.

Schweiz vs. Indonesia 116 - 125 (63674)

One big win for us against a team which is in a good shape in last 2 seasons. I think home court advantage has prevailed for us.
We have some chances to reach the playoffs but the chances are not very big. I've checked the schedules for our main competitors for the playoffs and only 2 of them have tough games. However, we should try to reach the playoffs if there is a chance

Indonesia vs. Prathet Thai 78 - 104 (63737)

nothing much to be said here. wrong tactics (obviously) but maybe the only one we could have played today due to gameshapes.

Opponent ratings are so much higher due to bigger effort and homecourt advantage. so the outcome is expected, maybe the point difference is not realistic but it is what it is.

Seasons 55 and 56 at a glance

Two seasons ago I've been elected as a NT coach of Indonesia's team. At that point, NT ranking was around 35 and today, two season after, we are at 52. We have actually kept about the same rank as we had at the beginning of the season 56.
I consider this as a fail and I'm disappointed with the results.

Apart from occasional mails exchanged with some of the managers, and great enthusiasm of U21 coach LA-Martinenko, I'm not satisfied with the communication with player owners, so that would be my 2nd biggest fail.

All things considered, I think it is fair to say it will be good if someone else will take over the team next season.
