I'd take the 19 year old too. Like the previous reply, 19s come out of the draft with higher TSP nowadays, so it's about equivalent to training an 18yo yourself for a whole season (and also risking injury the whole season), unless your trainer is max level.

Taller players also receive a boost to training forward skills (IS, ID, RB, SB), so a 5 inch difference in height will certainly make a difference in training. You can't train height, after all...

IMO level 4 trainer is fine up until superstar potential, where you might want to consider a level 5. The NT coaches I've contacted lightly prefer these caliber of players to be trained by a level 5 trainer, but they won't hold it against you if you use a level 4. You might not be looking to make the U21 team, but thought these opinions would serve as a baseline for your managerial preferences.

Agreed! I'm surprised others would choose the 7'2 19 y/o. With the extra year, you can train in the areas you want, and with the shorter player, you can have train secondaries without as big a lag.

If you have some scouting points left, I'd spend it to find out their OD rating. If your 7'2" guy has 1 OD it will be a hell to get it to a decent level. If he has 2 or more extra OD than the 18yo, I'd go for the 19yo but otherwise I'd go with the 18yo. You could scout PA too, but that trains pretty quickly with elastic effect of HA on bigs so shouldn't swing your evaluation too much.

From my experience as a U21 manager (and scout), I'd say for every 3 useful 18yo's there's 1 useful 19yo in general. Now your 19yo has an A+ rating compared to the A rating of the 18yo, but that's still advantage to the 18yo if you ask me.
