Well, was not expecting to be where I am at this point of the season. I am currently 4th in my conference, while I think I will ultimately get bumped from the playoffs, I think I can actually stave off demotion. My trainees are not progressing as much as I would have liked, so not sure what to do there. I am now making 132k per week with another expansion in 10 days. (BTW build, build, build your arena). Should I revamp now or just barely ride through and continue to build for a few more seasons. I could afford more salaries. The problem with revamping is it diverts funds from building but to do it simultaneously is at a very slow rate also doesn't work because at the end the first players you bought need to be resold.

So I guess what I am asking is at what point do I consider going on? I am afraid that my trainees can not take me beyond D.III but to start again leaves a hole in the lineup. I much do I need to be making per week before I consider stacking some serious talent in SG-C to hold while I train guards at pg. I guess i just need some advice on where to go.

While what Manon is suggesting is a good strategy, I do think you can combine competing and expanding your arena, if you invest some time in it. If you buy 28-32 year old players at a low price, you can sell them around the same price you bought them. You need to be patient with buying these players, as you need to wait for an opportunity to buy below market value, so by the time you sell them (before they turn 33), you can actually sell them for more or the same price (since the value drops with age).

This way, you don't lose money to them (except for the salary you need to pay, but that's always the price for competing), because if you buy a player you can sell one as well, and use the money from the sales to expand your arena. I don't have much experience and I'm not competing at a very high level yet, but so far it's working for me. It could be that it's near impossible at higher levels, but you could look to give it a try.

Largely agree with what's been said to this point, except I'm of the belief you should always try to keep your team in a higher league as long as it's reasonable (easier said and done in Ireland than US). My suggestion would be once you've secured a position where you avoid the relegation matches, sell off the members of your team you don't see as contributors beyond another season or two. Bite the losses at the beginning of next season while bringing in the money, and gradually start bringing in some players to build around. As you build you, you should wind up at least in the relegation matches next year with a strong enough team to win, and you should be in a good position.

First, thank your lucky stars you didn't end up in III.5. ;) Manon's spot on about the arena - there's no need at all for that many bleachers with so few premium seats. That's a recipe for disaster when you hit a bad stretch and don't have the promotion bonus to bail you out.

You definitely need an exit strategy for your older players. With three players at 32 and another three at 31, and none of your trainees probably ready to be starters, it'll be rough. Hopefully you can get a safe spot and sell the 32 year olds before the deadline and get enough money to buy a few guys in the 30-31 range if you're looking to save up money, or younger and better if you're going to invest more in players for next season.

Longterm, though, if the guys you're training aren't going to be enough to bring you out of III, that means you're going to have to buy a team to move up or train other guys instead. And buying a team to get out of III will be expensive if it's not a one-year II or bust old man farm. But this is where you need to figure out your plan for the future - if you want to move up at some point, you need to figure out how you'll get the players that will help you do it, and the more of those you can train yourself, the less you'll need to buy.

I think you have some good trainees. Three point guards to train up is fine. However, they will be capped at some point. I am guessing at age 23 or so. I would look at the draft and hope to get some more talent to build around after that.

Fredas Pumpalavicius seems to expensive for my tastes. If you sell him you might be able to get a better expansion in place. You may want to consider doing that while keeping in mind to make sure you stay out of relagation zone.

Beyond that I wouldn't worry about the age of your players. Unless you are into the whole cycling out routine.

To me I just like buying USA players because they help earn more money via merchandise. You may want to look at doing the same.

I am a season behind you, but I know I cannot win my div4 this year. So I am building up for a championship next season. You may want to do the same while staying in Div 3. I would consider staying there for two seasons before attempting to make it to Div2. This is probably an ideal time to look at expanding while just trying to earn 5th place.

I think I am going to fight for 4/5 position, then sell all of my players at the deadline. Replace them at league minimum and add two possibly three trainees but probably 2. Basically what I think I am going to look for is my future back-ups. This is going to suck being regulated next season but only like previous attempts I have an arena that can support a pretty good income.

Just a quick update, I think I am still going to follow that strategy, although while trying to maybe stay in D.III because I am cranking out 200k+ per week on the arena. Although I don't have much of a future with this current team, I feel way better about it because I have a nice financial background in the arena.
