(35776) The game started slowly, but the defense and depth picked it up. The 2nd and 3rd quarters were owned by the Pinoys,, who outscored their opponent 65-23 in those two quarters. Some game shape issues for the other team, helped the pinoys , as even though the early season was a bit rocky, have picked up their play lately. In true Morwood Pinoy fashion, the depth of the team showed their strength.. when we are most successful, its because everyone is chipping in, and this game had it all po!!
Strengths:
-62-42 advantage in rebounds... Paler 15 and RAbago 10 leading the way here
-50-88 shooting for the pinoys which is amazing..Honesto Del Prado (18 points), Calibjo(15), and super sub Oscar Sanchez(15) led the way in scoring
-Ball movement was great.. we held a 36-9 advantage in the ASSISTS department( amazinG!!) Calibjo(10 assists), Chris MOlina (7) led the way, in dropping many DIMES!!
-8 STEALS AND 6 blocks.. this is good for us, as we don't usually block many shots!!
-More responsible... we only committed 13 fouls, which is low for our slap-happy bunch of young men..
-EFFICIENT 3 point shooting -- 5 for 10...
Weaknesses:
-Free throws--- only managed 5 for 18 from the charity stripe.. this will hurt us in closer games.. so some of you trianers may want to think of a week of Free Throws, or even stamina....
-Turnovers... although we only committed 8 turnovers, we only forced 8, so we need to win more of those battles
Top Player of the week:
Many great performances, but this week, the honour has to go to Frederick Paler (54819) of Romanus. Coach Morwood has been promising more time for him, and he rewarded the young big man with some time. The YOung big stud responded with a great all around game of 10 points, 15 rebounds, 1 block and a game high +37 !!
Trainer of Week:
Romanus -- Paler had great game shape and mvp honours, but in a wek, where there weren't many skill pops ot any of the team members(probably the worst week for skill pops all year). His other team player Pador, popped . So congratulations!!
Up Next...
WE play the pesky team from SVerige.. They've had a rough season, but have some enthusiasm banked, and there is word they may crunch us.. and the game is on the road.. This is always a tough week, because it's all star week, and game shapes get messed up because teams miss a game and forget to get their trainees atleast 48 minutes.. so please keep this in mind.. we need this game, as we have been moving back up the standings , and we need to win to set up a very tough final game with Sinapore.. remember,, although we have been having a tough season, if we can win out and make the consolation playoffs anyting is possible.. and at stake is home court for next year's asian cup.!!! Merry Christmas and happy new year!!
