Just like poop goes in different forms from liquid consistency with no solid pieces to mushy consistency with ragged edges to smooth soft sausage like to lumpy sausage like to separate hard lumps; your player suitable to mediocre div IV team as a starter with retirement age goes from basicly nothing to something; no wonder.

by the way this is the example of the overestimation; trash goes from 20k to 500k who pays 500k for garbage?

This TPE is only looking at 18 year olds, so no 33 or 35 year olds are included in it. However Marin has verified before that it is not overestimation, it comes from actual transfers made in the past.

So there was an 18 year old player of perennial allstar potential with 2000-4000 salary and 30-36 guard and 20-24 forward skill points which sold for 500k. Probably still a bad purchase, but maybe he was a spawned 60 TSP with good height and good spread on skills. I still wouldn't pay 500k for a 7 POT 18 year old, but I know people who will.

the mistake is taking a value (6k, 500k) without considering that money is relative

to me, spending 20k or 2k for a player is the same. yet the difference is an entire order of magnitude
so, to someone who makes 200k-300k a week, what is 500k? probably the same as 50k. peanuts

of course with more transfers we'd have more accurate data, but currently we should take this estimation for what it is: just a weak suggestion
