For most players it means nothing. The rule only applies to the final 32 in Buzzerbeater's Best, and prevents them from using any players that they acquire after the deadline in that tournament. Said players can still be used in league play however.

There are similar deadlines that apply at the end of the regular season for all play-off teams, and for the final 8 teams in the Battlers Tournament each season.
