Aus defeat U.A.E
(48643)

A good start to the Asian Cup campaign, shooting a tad under 50% FG as a team. 62 rebounds was helpful in pulling away here, as well as 8 made 3 point baskets.

MVPs
3- McEwen- 23pts, 18 boards.
2- Ginun- 22pts, 4 made 3pters.
1- Nagata- 10 pts, 15 boards, 3 blocks.
Special mention- Stojkovic in a scoreless effort, but the point is he only took 1 shot. 7 assists and 5 boards whilst not shooting. Not sure what he didnt like about his scoring mismatch, but i expect he will be getting direction to shoot more when open.

Aus defeat Macau 122 - 67
(48647)

Great game to consolidate top spot early on. The competitiveness to fill the stat sheet was remarkable. 30 assists and 60 boards, great percentages, and lock down defensive efforts in each position. Making it even trickier was the bench getting more minutes in some positions than the starters. But I usually try to value the minutes played before garbage time. Ive sat on the decision for a few nights to try and decipher how the MVPs should be delivered. Here we go:

MVPs
3 votes- Nagata. 19 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks.
2 votes- Stojkovic. 12 dimes! 8 points but only shot 5 shots to get there. 6 boards. Great leadership from the point.
1 vote- Ian Bill. Tore the bench apart with 19 points, 11 boards and 5 assists. Did his work in both junk time and in the first half.

We have the dreaded bye this week, so im looking for a competitive scrimmage amongst the other bye teams...

Please, if you have a player on the team, or being trained for u21 standards, keep them updated on the offsite. I will endeavour to update team players skills where I can, but if you keep your player updated, that is one less I need to take care of.

Good job everyone.

Nice points from the team tonight vs Kazakhstan
(48653)

Team has lived up to expectation to this point, and awaits the second round with a strong position in the pool

MVPS
3 votes- Hawkins (21pts on 8-9FG, 3 ass, 3 rebs, 2 3pters)
2 votes- Nagata (16pts on 8-10FG, 13 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals)
1 vote- Gerber (19pts on 7-9 FG, 2 steals, 2 boards)
Nice rebounds from McEwen, Nice assist game from Stojkovic! Plenty of great stat lines tonight. The bench went out and whacked them in garbage time too.

am i the only one who's really worried about both Nagata & Mcewen not being sustainable past the 22y season? Don't get me wrong, having them this season gives Australia a real shot at doing some REAL damage at the U21 season. But what worries me is that if they keep getting trained, their salary will spiral out of control. And training them out of position with that salary is near unsustainable.

If i'm offending the maangers of those players, then i'm asking for forgiveness up front. But they could have been transformed into breath taking PF's. Just keeping their salary down a tad more, only to add secundairy skills. Also, with this new available options, i think training for the U21 lvl should be reconsidered (but that is a discussion i'll be having with Whitewind, unless others would like to hear my oppinion on it)

i'm really scared that those players will have been burned up for the U21 lvl, where as they could have been corner piece at the NT lvl. if their potential was a little lower, then that is a different discussion all together. But MVP or better should be carefully considered imo.

Just to be clear, i'm speculating here, since i don't know their exact skills either (altho it's not to hard to make educated guesses with that salary at that age)

It was a nice start to the game shutting down opposition scoring opportunities early on, limiting them to a 13pt first quarter. Controlling the game from there, we cruised to a 47pt win

MVPs
3 votes- Gerber- 25pts, 5 boards, 4 blocks
2 votes- McEwen- 15 boards,10 pt double double
1 vote- Hawkins- 22pts, 3 assists.

Thanks!
