Hi all, we are about to kick off another season and I am going to try and be a little more active than seasons past and thought I would do a bit of a season opener..... so here it goes.
The usual questions arise at the start of each season. I have touched on them all and would love to hear some feedback
1. Who has been relegated/promoted to the league
2. Which will be the stronger division
3. Which teams will challenge for promotion

1. Promotion/Relegation
In no particular order, here are all of the promoted and relegated teams into our division for this season. It turns out the only new team that isn’t a Bot is the only Div 2 relegated team; Team Jordan.
Blue Division
Blinky bill div 4 (Bot)

2. Strongest Division
Although losing Generation of Miracles from the blue division through promotion, it looks as tho blue will remain the dominant division for another year.
Looking at the numbers of bots alone, there is a staggering 5 in the red division whilst only 3 bots in the blue division. Added to this is the inclusion to the blue division of the only Div II relegated team.
The top 3 teams in the blue division all had a better record than all red teams last season. As well as 7th place in Blue would have just missed the red finals by 32 points difference having the exact same amount of wins.
In saying that, there should only be 1 active team miss finals from both divisions. Hopefully its not me Hahaha
3. Promotion
I thought I would start by looking at last seasons results as well as a quick snapshot of everyone’s salaries. I know not a great indication, but an indication none the less.

My pick is that this seasons winner will come from the Blue side and to be more exact; Billy Hoyles Boys.
Having only just been knocked out in the Semi Finals by Generation of Miracles by 2 points in double overtime with the game ending with 5 players fouled out.
If Billy chokes, my next in line are Galaxy United Mighty and Mighty Woefuls; each having the next best records from last season.
The wildcard is Team Jordan. With only really 5 teams in the Blue division that should make finals, it will be interesting if they spend up with the hope to go straight back or spend a season or 2 training his soon to be guns.

4. Div II Relegated Team
With a player salary of just $40,000, Team Jordan is in a major rebuild stage of their team. Having offloaded $17.5M of players in May, he has recently spent $11M on 2 draftees. An excess of $6.5M plus whatever he had prior he is going to be tough to beat if he spends it all towards the end of the season looking for promotion straight back. He will be even more formidable in a few seasons with these draftees and money to spend.
Will he have enough in the bank to buy a team capable of going straight back? Time will tell.....

In doing this research, I have just found out that my first cup game is against The Comebacks; the team that lost by 1 point in the promotion Tie Breaker that now sees westernsydbd in our league. Small world!
