In my experience, it either goes in or is blocked.

I may have seen it once missed without a block and not being fouled.

If you've seen it go in, please give me a link to the game, because I have never had it go in, ever. I have been playing since the beginning of season 2 by the way.

I think I've seen it go in and not just once. I don't feel like looking at all my games full time again. Feel free to look at my games and see for yourself. I will keep my eye out on my next games though so it would be easier on you.

Puh-leeze. I've been ranting about this for over a year (see this post from the late, unlamented Minor Suggestions thread: (3910.46)). And every single time I've seen it (using the default English as my language), it's a block. 100%.

If you're using Estonian, it's possible the comparable translated message is used in a wider variety of situations.

It's rare (mabe <10%), but I think it goes in in English as well. Sometimes it also leads to a foul and FTs though.

Please find an example. In the year+ that I've been annoyed by this (and so checked virtually every example I've seen live), I have seen no counterexamples ever. No fouls, no scores, ever. 100% block.

Edit: Unless you're a BB, there is no point in just asserting that there are counterexamples. I've never seen any and I've probably checked more occurrences of it than anyone. It's not possible for me to prove that there are no counterexamples. I can't check them all. All anyone else needs to do is provide concrete evidence of one counterexample.

I would say that the shot is only blocked about 95% of the time. But I have never seen a make or a foul.

Here's a different angle on the "dunk in a crowd" issue.

Assuming the assertion that in the default English version, this always corresponds to a miss with a blocked shot... why not kill two birds with one stone. Assuming that the defender name is available as possible input to the display text (as it is for many of the other shot attempt messages), a very common user request could be at least partially implemented by rewriting:

"Offensive player goes up for a dunk in a crowd."

as

"Offensive player's weak layup attempt is rejected by defensive player."

... or something along those lines.

Again, the two assumptions above would have to be true. There may be other good reasons to not do this.

I have fixed this issue... "goes up for a dunk in a crowd" should now result in some made and some not made dunks...as should several other descriptions of dunk attempts. Some dunk attempt descriptions make it clear that the dunk is made and those will always result in made dunks.
