Quick summary of the first 3 games:
The best newcomer:
Kelvins team
2-1 record in tough conference speaks for itself. Surprising win over Syndicalists is worth noting. The team has also put up a decent fight against current NT manager and Naismith powerhouse - Philosopher Kings. The worthy effort resulted in a loss, but a new feeling of belonging let the team crush their next opponents to put themselves firmly in a position of playoff contenders early in the season.
Well balanced and experience team + flexibility in tactics makes this team one to watch.
Dissapointment so far:
Green Machines
Seeing a Canadian BB legend in the last place with 0-3 record is surprising. The team is close to salary floor though and it looks like other goals are in mind rather then going after deep run in the playoffs this season. The schedule doesn't get any easier for next 2 games so rapid climb up the standings is unlikely
MVP:
Statistically Hieronymus Sutter leads the way but his first name is absolutely unfit for top level athlete and the team has losing record so we have to look somewhere else.
The winner so far in this category is
Olexiy Burimenko
Proud son of Ukrainian immigrants became a legend in Canadian NT. Now, although close to retirement he is still showing the youngsters out there how it's done. 33.5 ppg, 13 RPG and a staggering 5.5 APG with 2.5 SPG for a big man and only 1.5TO are rockstar numbers. The importance of Olexiy for his team is best shown by the results of his team. Ottawa is 2-0 with 37yo in the lineup and got simply ran out of the gym the only time he was forced out of the game due to progressing rheumatism that makes back to back games hard for the old man
