Apologies if this question has been answered - I tried searching for it with no luck.

My question is, what is the difference in income when moving from one division to another? Eg. Division 4 to Division 3?

Does TV Contract increase? Merchandise? Will there be significantly more people coming to arenas?

I am developing a fairly young team at the moment, and I believe I have an ok shot at winning this season. I'm trying to figure out whether it is worthwhile to stay in Div 4 as a strong team and develop my team further by training and saving money to buy more experienced players, or move up to Div 3 as a weak team and probably get beat every week (but make more money, hence able to afford to buy better players).

as far as i understand it, promoting is always better, you get more money, better crowds, and even if you do get relegated after promoting you still get the money you earnt while up there, plus a first pick at the draft.
promoting is always better.
this game rewards winning teams, go for promotion.

Here are the details on the bonus you get, it's from the rules page

To help the newly promoted teams compete in the higher leagues, promoting teams will now receive a one-time bonus. Both promoting league champions and teams that promoted from a bot cleanup will get the extra cash, though bot-promoted teams will not experience the same boost to their season ticket holders. The bonus for promoting to a higher league is as follows:

Promotion into DIV I: $ 1 000 000
Promotion into DIV II: $ 500 000
Promotion into DIV III: $ 300 000
Promotion into DIV IV: $ 200 000
Promotion into DIV V: $ 150 000
Promotion into any lower division: $ 150 000

no

Merchandise?

sligthly, but in the net season the difference could be bigger(or smaller but i don't believe that)

Will there be significantly more people coming to arenas?

sure, here comes the money ;)

So i try to get up, because you earn more money and it is very difficult to promote in BB - to hold a league is much easier.

no

Actually, starting next season, the TV contract will be based on the skill of the players in the league. So, effectively, "yes".

Regarding promotion, as there is only one team promoted from 16 teams you should take your chance to get promoted. Risk is that you have some ambitious teams in your league and that it will be harder to get promoted next time. I am stucked in my divisions despite being one of the best teams in the whole division and not only my own league. I would never consider waiting for a season. You will probably have pretty good chances of staying in division if you can get promoted with a young team as you can improve your team a lot durign a season and money for promotion can be used to strengthening in other positions as well.

from news: "Starting at the all star break this year, every league will be negotiating its TV contract independently, and leagues in larger divisions or with more superstars will be able to make deals with larger TV networks, making it possible for more people to follow their team from the comfort of their home."

this means tv contract $ will change next week during all star break, not next season right?

Technically, yes. However, since teams get promoted at the beginning of next season, I wanted him to know that the changes would be in effect then. Sorry if I caused any confusion :(

curious one block later they write:

"On the other hand, because high quality television programming will be available for fans, it will become harder and harder to sell out extremely large arenas, beginning at the start of Season 10. Nobody wants to watch a basketball game in a giant football stadium when they could be enjoying the game in HD at home. When these changes take effect, teams will be allowed to downsize their arenas if they wish and sell the materials they used in construction for the price they paid to construct them."

So maybe we get the new tv systems, or maybe we don't get it next weak.

because i didn't expect to get the additional money without the bad sideeffect on visitors.
