Hi guys,

I hope you're all doing great !

I'm just back from holidays with no access to a computer, which is why I've been quite inactive lately.

I'll scout every draftees today, thanks to the datas provided by mink0ff, and also all the 19-21yo players I already follow.
So, be prepared to receive BB mails from me :)

Like last season, I'll write a presentation of our first roster and about what to expect for this season.
I must say I'm a little upset about our first game shapes, so I'll contact every manager to see what can be done to improve it. Even if the first games seem affordable, there's no place for an unexpected loss and each point scored will matter for our ranking before the last rounds of the tournament !

Cheers

Slam

Roster Presentation - U21 Consolation Tournament

I've already selected 15 players before the second game of the season, since there is no other viable option amongst the 21 yo players. The last three spots will be reserved to the 20 yo players who will progress the most this season.

This quick presentation goes from the highest to the lowest salary, it is not a ranking. Of course, I will not be specific about their profile because this is a public forum.

Taskin Enginer - 21yo (49685782)
Trained by JohnSnow, his future is really promising. If well trained (not much doubt here) and in good shape, he will probably be our best player this season.
Followed by mink0ff to ensure he'll get to the NT.
Fun fact, I just copy-pasted the presentation from last season of Dilov. Another sign that NT training can provide real good U21 players !

Stoyan Kenarov - 21yo (49611703)
Trained by atanasovvv, he was already one of our best weapons inside last season. His training is on point and there's no doubt he'll dominate the paint this season.

Metodi Yotzov - 21yo (49611723)
Trained by uBAH, his progression lately has been really impressive. If he continues like this, he might be our best scorer this season ! Also in his second U21 season.

Nedim Göksu - 21yo (49611628)
Trained by atanasovvv,, the friend of Kenarov is as well in his second U21 season. He's been really effective last season and everything leads to think that he'll do even better this season !

Svetoslav Mengov - 21yo (49611833)
Trained by uBAH, he is the fourth consecutive inside player of this presentation, and also the fourth consecutive player who already played a lot last season with the U21. Having a guy as good as him on the bench just shows how dominant our inside players will be !

Rüzgar Nehir - 21yo (49611812)
Trained by mink0ff, he's been unlucky last season with many injuries. Let's hope he stays healthy because he is set to be a starter in our backcourt or as a SF all season long !

Demir Fazli - 21yo (49611673)
Trained by LA-Singh and followed by mink0ff for the NT, his role will highly depend on his progression and game shape. So far it's been promising and he will be of a good help for our backcourt.

Alexander Drashanski - 21yo (49687913)
Trained abroad in England, it's already his 4th club... At one point he was our best backcourt prospect but now he is set to be a back-up at best. Let's hope his new manager will provide him a good training.

Venelin Parushev - 20yo (49908801)
Trained by atanasovvv, he will not have a lot of playing time this season but he will be a starter for sure next season.

Radoslav Yanakiev - 21yo (49611686)
Trained by LA-Singh, he is in the same position as his teammate Fazli. So far they are backups at best, but their progression has been huge lately.

Yordan Iliev - 21yo (49611691)
Trained by Mod-raptor666, he will be our starter at small forward this season. He will have the hard task to make me forget Boyadzhiev who sadly isn't trained anymore while he was a huge prospect last season... But so far so good with Iliev !

Kiril Kalúchev - 21yo (49611627)
Trained by Pachimalan, he brings an interesting new profile for our backcourt ! Let's hope he keeps progressing and stays in great shape.

Valeri Genchev - 21yo (49611708)
Trained by GorillaZ after spending nearly 3 seasons with mr_skembelijsky, this is his second U21 season and his experience and defense will be much appreciated.

Angel Penchev - 21yo (49611653)
Trained in a french Utopia, he wasn't part of the team in last year's scrimmages but he's had a nice progression lately.

Oleg Atanasov - 20yo (49908800)
Trained by Mod-raptor666 with Iliev. He might not play a lot but he will be a beast next season !

1st game : Bulgaria 92 - 90 Moldova
Team's record : 1-0 (+2)

The word of the MVP : Nedim Göksu (18pts at 53% 10reb 5ast)
"Jeez, I'm finally out of the locker room... Coach was sooooo mad about our performance !
I mean, he's totally right ! We went to Moldova to reinforce our point average and we end up extremely close to the loss...
We knew their inside perimeter was their main strength, and fact is they destroyed us and took most of the rebounds ! It's a team's effort, but we've got some responsibilities with my fellow big men. Coach wants us to get in good shape as soon as possible ! Also, I've felt like we've been quite unlucky with some open shots... But anyways, we can't find excuses when we're close to lose against a team that is ranked 71st in the world.
Fact is we have to give credit to our opponent. They were really motivated and their crowd was on fire !
On our side, we just have to work hard to show we can face the best teams in the tournament."

That was a hell of a game to follow... I didn't expect this kind of result.

I don't think the inside gdp was a mistake cause they're clearly inside oriented. Fact is they scored 29 of their 42 field goals in the paint.
Maybe the push the ball wasn't a good idea though. I cannot explain on a public forum all the reasons why I selected this strategy but I'm surprised it worked that bad. We have way better pp100 but apparently that wasn't enough. And of course they destroyed us in the rebound... 18 offensive rebounds, about 10 more possessions given back to them cause we weren't able to secure the rebound... Against the 71st nation in the world... That's bad. Really bad.

Hard to say what happened exactly. Obviously they have a couple of decent players, plus home advantage, plus incorrect focus from us, plus slightly better forms. It all added up, and mixed with some unfavorable engine randomness, made the game a lot more even than it should have been.

The good news is, even when we struggled we won. Can only get better from here.

Yes exactly ! It was a warning that every game's gonna be a fight and that I have to be careful with my choices. It was probably a good reminder

2nd game : Bulgaria 140 - 69 Saudi Arabia
Team's record : 2-0 (+73) - Ranked 5th out of 86

The word of the MVP : Valeri Genchev (24pts at 70% 4reb 5ast)
"We bounced back !
I'm proud of my guys, we've been able to react to our coach's disapointment after our first game. We knew it would be a quite easy game considering Saudi Arabia doesn't have a lot of active managers, but we've been able to increase our point average by a lot ! Maybe even more than what we hoped for. So that's a great great performance for us, in front of our public.
On a more personal note, I'm happy to be the game's MVP of but that's not what matters more. It's not my first U21 season, I know we will have a long way and all I can do is to train hard and be in my best shape to help my team !"

3rd game : Bulgaria 101 - 71 România
Team's record : 3-0 (+103) - Ranked 4th out of 86

The word of the MVP : Taskin Enginer (18pts at 60% 2reb 7ast)
"Another good win !
România was our first solid opponent this season. We prepared well for this game, knowing they had strong inside players.
The first half was a demonstration but then we slowed down a bit after halftime. That's not the best for our point average, but coach took the opportunity to give everyone a good playing time.
The competition will be long, it's really important to create a good chemistry between us all and to integrate some 20 yo players.
It feels great to be the game's MVP. I know I was in bad shape in the beginning of the season, but I will do my best with my club to settle this. Coach really counts on me and I really count on this U21 experience. I'm really proud to represent our country and all I want is winning ! Go Bulgaria"

I've just prensented the roster here (314735.2)
Sorry for being so late, it's been a busy month IRL.

About this roster, 13 of the 15 players are trained by bulgarian managers, and some of them possess more than one U21 :
- uBAH : Mengov and Yotsov
- Mod-raptor666 : Iliev and Atanasov
- And the palm goes to atanasovvv : Kenarov, Göksu and Parushev
Congrats to all of you !

As you might have seen, there are only two 20 yo players so far this season. It's a first sign showing the strength of this season's roster ! Good point is we have strong inside players this season, and I hope our backcourt will progress fast.

The consolation tournament has started well for us. Our schedule is pretty good, even if some other strong countries have been extremely lucky ! The goal here is to finish amongst the top 16 to have at least the first elimination round with HCA.
After that, we'll see what might happen, but be sure all I want is the victory ! :)

Българи юнаци !

PS : we started the season at the 35th rank worldwide (47th last season). I hope we'll make it to the top 30 or even the top 25 by the end of the season !

Sounds great, slam! Keep up the good work!

On Nehir - I am confident his GS will finally break the 8+ barrier tomorrow. Enough with the bad luck. I will be able to get him some outside training in the coming weeks, as we discussed as well. +2 OD can be expected for the decisive part of the season.
