Consolation tournament is now over.
With a Swedish national team still in reconstruction, the balance of this season is mixed but allows to be optimistic for the future.
The first game in Belarus was very hard, they were waiting for us with GDP and 2-3 defense. We fought the whole game, but we lost in the second OT.
Then we won logically against Hayastan +43 points.
The draw for the following games brought a complicated schedule: Hong Kong (#7), Singapore (#64), England (#24), Argentina (#33), Portugal (#22) and Philippines (#18). Facing these opponents, it was impossible to have sporting ambitions. So we chose to involve even more young players, and finally the youngsters resisted well. They remained strong on every game, except on the last one after a MOTS.
-13 against Hong Kong,
+18 at Singapore,
-10 against England,
-13 at Argentina,
-10 against Portugal,
-28 at Philippines.
The game against Hayastan was the last one in NT for
Hugo Haraldsson (36 yo). So
Tobias Widerling (28 yo),
Tommy Fyhrhult (26 yo),
Tobias Bokholt (27 yo) and
Ola Gunnarsson (24 yo) took over the guard positions.
Anders Strandblom (25 yo) arrived later to help them.
For small forwards,
Markus Andersson (25 yo) continues to progress and becomes more and more important alongside
Mattias Hjortgren (34 yo).
For inside players, the new generation is further away.
Charlie Håkansson (27 yo) is the closest to NT level.
Frank Jonasson (24 yo) is still very young, but he has played some interesting games.
Jesper Frank (27 yo) can still be improved, and had an interesting pop. He will be tested on the end of season, if his shape allows it.
Håkan Dallius (22 yo) has good bases, he still needs to work but can be important in the future.
Petter Börjesson (24 yo) also has a good base, with a different profile than the other prospects.
Bertil Alexandersson (24 yo) and
Per Granling (25 yo) can still hope for a place in national team, but they will have to improve in some skills.
Fortunately
Johan Lannerholt (31 yo) and
Patrik Åkesson (32 yo) are still present to do the job.
Lars Håkansson (34 yo) and
Love Falkquist (29 yo) can also help them.
Swedish national team is rebuilding and everything remains open. Other players can still progress and join the team. I follow some young players that can become interesting.
For future roster, we still need to find one or two more SF to prepare Hjortgren's retirement.
Growing of inside young players will be important to. They need to reach NT level.
All managers motivated to train and help NT are welcome !
