Hi All,
Over the summer I've been working on a little side project to compile a comprehensive list of all time stat leaders for our National side, going all the way back to season 3. The method has been simple enough, I've gone through each game and pulled down the box score, put it into a spreadsheet for that season, split the shots made from shot attempts and tallied for each player. I've done that for each season until now and compiled it to the end of season 51 (I'll update at the end of season 52, it's just easier). I've included all games, scrimmages, finals, the lot.
I've noticed some slight differences to the games played totals for some of the earlier guys - on my tally I have Simon Thomas as our all time games leader. No players have picked up extra games, but some players seem a couple of games less. But their totals in points, boards and assists all line up with the top-10 tally boards on the Aus page, so I'm just wondering if there's some sort of glitch in the data on BB? I thought I might have missed some games when I was pulling them across, but I've gone back and cross checked with a different method and I can't find any others I've missed now.
Anyway, for what it's worth I now have a spreadsheet that can not only tell us most games played but who hit the most threes, gave away the most fouls, has the best PPG or even PPM of any player - anything that the box score can tell us is in there. I'll make some posts below listing what I've got as leaders for each category below. If anyone can find an error in the data they can pinpoint I'd love to hear it - even just tallying the games of your favourite historical player season by season so I can cross check would be awesome if you think the data here is out.
Fun fact - the next player to suit up will be our 200th Australian NT Player.
Hope you find this interesting.
