Why would you run a 1-3-1 against a team that likes to push the ball? That doesn't mean they won't look inside or low post you.....

They could kill your tactic knowing your PF and C are the way to go by going 2-3 themselves...

I am not saying, I am just saying

Its not about the matchup. . .that's why I outlined this as their best "neutral" settings. 1-3-1 bc of the 4's ability to trap due to their high OD. It wasn't clear that these teams are matching up, so my point is that I don't believe Option A's strength is necessarily PTB, but that they should go inside to their bigs. I'm not advocating 1-3-1 against PTB, I'm advocating that Option A is naturally an LP offense and according to their personnel a 1-3-1 defense.

I know I'm not the only one who felt this way, I've discussed it with others. Wozzvt isn't up for election - Jelme is. I went through the process of having drafted an 18-year-old with barely enough talent to make the u21 team. I knew Ernie Rainey would be a role player if he ever made the u21, because his starting salary was extremely low compared to the other u21 players. I never once got any input on his development from Jelme and I updated the database constantly. The first time I had contact from Jelme was when I found out Rainey had made the team...prior to that, I had assumed Rainey was not a candidate.

A lot of times the tactics for each game were posted quickly and on the run. And any conversation on the off-site forum always starts at the top and the rest will follow. I'll be the first to admit that I seldomly posted on that site, but it was mostly due to the fact that there never seemed to be any debate.

And you may be right - he did his communicating via IM - but how does that build the community strength on the off-site forum? I just think it's important to build that social network of the USA community and get excitement going for the national teams.

To be fair though you obviously did a good job training him so there was nothing for him to help with really. And you couldve asked jelme what he thought about him. I see what you mean though.

Also a few days ago I messaged jelme about my 18 yo and he replied within hours and he wasn't even the u21 coach because it was after the season. So if you messaged him I'm sure he woulda replied.

I can sorta tell you how the players I send messages to are chosen.

Each offseason, I "scout" the top ~60 in each age group. I take the top salaried players for each position when scouting. I will not contact the guys that obviously will not make the team ( 20 yo SG with 20k salary and inept OD or something similar).

Last I season I sent messages to the following:
20 year olds: 48
19 year olds: 56
18 year olds: 54

About 40% of the people will send responses.

Rainey's salary rank for PG's with potential above 5.
18 yo: 56th
19 yo: 2nd
20 yo: 4th
21 yo: 3rd

So he should have been contacted in his 19 yo season and his 20 yo season. By my records, I sent you a BB-mail at the beginning of his 20 yo season. The message I have been sending out is pretty generic to start with, and the more i correspond the better I can advise. The first message is just asking what the person plans to do with said player. Subsequent messages deal with how best to achieve their goals with the player.

This process is the biggest difference in our country and other top tier countries. Where there has been 1-3 people (I utilized reddaddy32 and Fatcurry) to scout and send messages to owners, other countries have ~10. With a small cadre of volunteers we could double the amount of people we reach. I have responded to 99% of the BB-mail I have received, no matter how silly they get. I still posted in the offsite all through last season, even if it wasnt as much as the season before. FC's mention of IM'ing me was just to comment that I did in fact pour a lot of effort into every game.

Collecting volunteers or maybe using conscription. Reach more people.

The problem with communication is that it is two ways. I can only put up so much stuff and send so many messages.
