As the playoffs approach, there are only a couple of teams still on the bubble in terms of in or out.

Here were my thoughts from the begining of the season, in the other Season 30 thread.

The Great 8 has been the stronger conference for the past few seasons. Leading playoff contenders include my Kitties, Hoopers, Boilermakers, and the recent D.3 team, Strong. Mares should also come on strong and may make the playoffs at the expense of someone.

In the Big 8, last season's conference title winner Catzz should again qualify for the playoffs with easy, while Blazers and Java will join them. Big question will be who will be the 4th playoff team.

In Great 8 - Kitties, Strong and also Mares are in, making the playoffs at the expense of ex-team Boiler. Who would have predicted the events surrounding that team? No one. The new comer replacement team, Majarlika, is going to struggle down the stretch, so it will be either Hoopers or Gods taking the final playoff spot. The upcoming match-up between those two teams will be huge!

In the Big 8 - Blazers, Catzz and Java will be joined by Moose. Sorry Panama, but not sure that both the win/loss and the tie-breaking goal diff issue can be made up to reach the 4th slot. The really interesting action will center on the seeding issue, with the top three teams all sitting on identical records. The upcoming battles between those three teams will also be huge!

There will also be some very interesting relegation battles come playoff time, interesting in that out of those survivors will likely come the league champ in 5+ seasons down the road.

Lightning Hoopers and my GODS both play kitties and Dark Shoguns after our matchup. That is one win and one loss almost guaranteed, so the winner of our matchup is the fourth seed in the great 8. Exciting stuff!!!

Haha don't think my team is in a great position to compete right now, but the game should be interesting nonetheless

The playoffs have arrived, and interestingly for the Great 8, the playoffs start in exactly the same way as the regular season ended - Kitties and GaG meet up, while Strong and Wink also go at it in the first round.

In the Big 8, the Catzz and Moose matchup is probably the toughest one to call. The winner faces the Blaserz, who should be able to take care of business versus Java.

Panama and Majar will live to fight another day in IV.58, having each finished 5th.

In the relegation battles, Funky should be able to take the Shoguns, while the loser of the Bears/Hoopers matchup will be residing in D.5 next season. Good luck to all.

Even though an early exit is inevitable for me, I am very proud of making the playoffs in my first season back in D4

So I guess yay me for coming in as the closest loser from the first round of the playoffs (against the kitties too!) :D Good luck to all the teams left in the running for a d3 promotion!

In both Great 8 and Big 8 - it will be #1 v. #2 for the opportunity to play in the league finals.

Thanks. I was actually a little surprised that it went to OT - I had been holding a little back in our other matches to surprise you . . . guess you were doing the same thing. I was predicting a 5-8 point regular match win.

You have the better rebounding team, so I was surprised that my guys ended up with the edge in rebounding in this match. I do emphasize offensive efficiency with my team, so not surprised I had the edge there, but you had a huge advantage in personal fouls and in 3 point shots. Not sure what happened there - that probably made it closer.

The match going to overtime actually played to one of my team's strengths - a much deeper bench. I think your team is very strong 5 - 6 deep. but once your subs had to start playing significant minutes, they could not match my subs. If I do promote, my advice for your "Strong" team would be get another quality back-up - either a SF/SG combo guy or a SG/PG combo guy, depending on what position you are nottraining, to fill that gap in your team. If I don't promote, my advice would be blow up your team and start over, since I would not like to face your guys two seasons in a row.

We shall see if I end up promoting out of IV.58, or if Catzz does. Should be some quality matches there.
