One thing I don't understand is:

If you don't want specific teams buying each other's players, why does the league page show me which players are available for sale in my league?

That seems to me to be just asking for one team to sell off a player so they can tank to another team that could really use that player to win the playoffs.

That is far from having a link with trading.

I wasn't addressing trading. I was responding specifically to your post where you explained that two teams transferring players between them using the Transfer List would be cheating if they did not sell their players at reasonable prices, even going so far as to say that the GM's would adjust the profits they made to make it a "fair" trade.

You can buy a player from someone in your league. It happens often at the top of a country since they are all looking for the same type of player (best of your home nation).

...

You know that your opponent might be weaker if he successfully sell a player. That also means he could buy another player in the near future and you will follow that.

These are all good arguments as to why a certain transfer may occur, but doesn't really address my question.

Knowing that an opponent of your league is selling a player doesn't mean that encourage intra conference transfer. It's a way to monitor your opponent amongst other. It has seldom nothing to do with trading also.

Then why is BB showing me specifically the players in my league that are for sale? That gives anyone in my league essentially first bid on any of those players. It's free transfer list scouting that takes me no time but a click on my league page.

And, the way I understand it, you guys won't even do anything due to the large number of daily transactions if teams "swap" players this way unless someone from the league that is affected complains. You are incentivizing intra league transfers by making them common knowledge in the league. Also, BB is giving an advantage to league members over a team that is selling off a player (by your own admission):

It is also useful if the player is not sold in the end since you now know his skillset. You can also make your own opinion of what skillset your opponent is looking after or have build his team.

by giving player skill information to everyone in that league.

The things you guys think are cheating in this game never ceases to amaze me.

you are sorta right
the league page show me which players are available for sale in my league

tactically, from a game/season perspective, knowing that an opponent is selling in, perhaps an attempt to upgrade before seasons end, is tactically good information.

Now your right - knowing that that team is selling means you get first dibs on him. But everything from there on in is a normal purchase and will go through the normal purchase scrutiny.

buying a player for too much/too little etc.

so whilst the information on the league screen does give you notice that someone in your league is selling a player, and that does enable you to bid on him first, everything after is the same as me finding a player on the transfer market.

Yeah, basically I look at that as a convenience function - prior to that feature being added one could check the roster of their leaguemates once every couple of days and note what players are being transferred, and do with that information whatever they wanted. I used to note down the skills of pretty much every non-scrub player listed by a league opponent in case they did not sell and I would face them again in the future, on the off chance that having that information would help set a more effective lineup against them (i.e., if I knew one big man had 1 OD and the other 7 OD, and they always played in the same positions, I might put the big man I wanted to shoot outside shots more frequently against the 1 OD guy). Of course, it's also useful as a means of noticing that a player who has been a thorn in your side might now be available to purchase, but that again is more a convenience factor.

yer as per hrudey's post.

its a good feature! :)

Sadly, after playing this game for many many years, you usually already know a players 'rough' stats, just by how they play in the game!

sad isnt it :D
