On the opening night of DIII.4 we witnessed some great games. Magic and Cleveleand seemed to focus on Tournament and TIE'd their first games which cost them losses against Hawks and Booshers. Tachenko managed to pull a comfortable victory against High-Flyers. These two teams will play at tournament first round on Thursday at Las jugadas imposibles and High-Flyers' higher enthusiaism might change things. Two new promoted teams played at Green Mountain Forum and home team Rip City made a great comeback against Cresleys.
On the Great 8 side almost all games were close and breathtaking but rematch of last years' conferance final between Illusion and Gavno was easier than expected for Illusion. (Needles to say Gavno TIED'de the game) Outstanding performance of the day came from Alberto Mina of the Steppers with 37 pts, 10 boards, 5 assists with no turnover against Goats. 24 yo PG sure has some talent.

Illusion @ Investors and Magic @ Cleveland will be the games to watch on Tuesday.

Wow. I like what you did there. Yeah, Mina sure is a heck of a PG. My PG Clinton Cantrell is usually a good defender but Mina schooled him. Luckily I had Lorenzo Capps and Vivincio Capelo step up their game. Unfortunately, my stud Center, Vernon Partridge, suffered a two week injury. So my next two weeks will be a interesting bunch of games on how we survive without his talent. From what I saw of Capelo, he had his first showcase.

Edit: I take that back. Capps started at SF on offense but guarded the SG on defense. Lawrence Coyle started at SG on offense, guarded SF on defense. Capps' defense has never been that great. Alberto Mina played SG, not PG so that's why. He definintely had a good game against my normally strong perimeter defenders. Lowell Webber should have been out there against him more though.

One thing for sure. With Partridge out, I'm definitely not looking forward to the next two weeks. My depth in the paint is pretty slim since that leaves me with a couple rookies.

I think Capelo and Capps' numbers are worth mentioning. If they manage to continue that all around performance you have nothing to fear. But yes next 2 weeks you gonna be playing the elites of Great 8, so you better worry about that LOL

Yah I actually had to go back and re-watch the final two minutes of my game. I came back from 9 down with 2 remaining, and my SG hit three 3's. I won on a dunk at the buzzer. Hopefully its not the only game I win all year, but my expectations are modest for the season.

There were a ton of close games.

Did not expect to be in that game at all. Was happy to see that Mina was able to do some damage.

I fully intend to move him around this season. You'll see him playing PG and SG. I might even move him to SF in the right situation just to be a little less predictable. Outside of that, I did some fundraising and we'll see if I can hang while I build up some big guys.

That was a heartbreaker for us. As usual, the stripe killed us. We were 2-13 against the Booshes, and blew another game by 1 in OT. I have a feeling that I will be back in Div IV next season.

You and Me both.

I thought for sure I'd have a better showing after scouting this team. I think I'm going to have to play my scrubs in the cup to get training moving.

Looks like I'm going to be leading my side this season. I want everyone on the great 8 side this season to go as hard as they can against the big 8 and finally end with a winning record against them.

haha, you a funny dude.

I actually just lost Clinton Cantrell for at least a week now. So that leaves me without my starting PG and C for the next 1 to 2 weeks.

I just HAD to talk smack, didn't I?

Word of Advice: Make sure to only acquire players with names not already on your roster. I made the mistake of setting my roster versus divinedragons with my backup PG/SG Teddy TITUS as my starting PF all because I thought I had chosen my PF TITUS Harvey. So I took the court with a small lineup.

PG Clinton Cantrell - 6'2"
SG Lawrence Coyle - 6'3"
SF Lorenzo Capps - 6'3"
PF Teddy Titus - 6'6"
C Vivencio Capelo - 6'10"

Clinton Cantrell gets hurt either before or just after the half. I can't really remember.

That left me with Titus (SG/PG), Coyle (PG/SG/SF), Webber (6'11" SF/PF), Capps, Hiatt (7'1" PF), and even Harvey filling in at the point. Thankfully Hiatt and Harvey rarely filled in at the point but let's just say I was practically screaming at my coach before I had to apologize later when I realized my goof.

Then Lawrence Coyle was injured (apparently for the remainder of the game so he'll be available next week it looks like) so that left Teddy Titus swapping back and forth on the court at PG and PF which caused Webber, Hiatt, and Harvey to swap with Teddy Titus whenever they were on the court so that left me with weird lineups.

Alright, so now I am without Cantrell AND Partridge. All I need now is for Capps, Titus, Capelo, and Webber to get injured. I spoke a while back in the Help section of the boards about how I have been fortunate enough to not experience injuries since the 5th season when Capps was finding himself injured. Lo and behold, Season 11 rolls along and my Skill Level 5 Team Doctor with his ability to tape injuries lets two happen within the first two games.
