Yeah, we all get hit with it at one time or another. 3 of my last 4 games are against the 2,3,4 place teams on my side. That is why I hope to build a bit of a lead. in case I lose those three games, I won't drop like a brick in the standings. We do what we can, at times I have been my worst enemy. Trying to out think my opponent and changing my tactics around. Usually comes back to bite me hard and I lose when I should have had a chance. At this point I have been just putting my guys out there and letting them do their best. That will continue especially when we get to the playoffs........MAYBE. :)

Tough game with Lighting Hoops. It was a close one. Not very impressive stats from my guys lol.

Three point win, must have gone down to the wire. A real nail biter to be sure. With you right behind me in the standings, I must confess I was rooting for the hoopsters LOL.
But I had a good night as my opponent decided to do inside box and one against my run and gun. Three pointers can be like lay ups with the right defense. 16 of 33 from three point land. With my PG putting up 37 points for the game.

Yeah another entertaining game, despite me being on the losing side. And just like that the Great 8 race just got a whole lot more interesting. But my stats weren't great either. What my team is greatly lacking is a perimeter game. My team hasn't proven that we can compete with top-tier shooting teams, on the offensive and defensive end. That's where I really miss Noiret, and I'm hoping I can get him back at least before Saturday's game against Strong arm so I can give myself the slightest bit of a chance lol. I still need to invest in an elite PG or SF, but I'll be a while before I can accomplish that.

Also, I should have power rankings up by Friday. @GodOnEarth, feel free to take over at any time ;) .

I have gone for the better rebounders up front, still working on that as I think they need a lot more improvement. And set a good back court. Guys that can make it rain from beyond the line. While my PG SG have a good chemistry, I'm always wanting more and better. I have been trying to find a SF to compliment those guys. I have found good seconds, but nothing I really totally like. money is the problem of course. While I did drop 90k on a new guy, I have been trying to save money to put into my arena. As everyone knows a very slow process unless you want to blow a wall out and build huge and drop your prices way down. I am by no means the sharpest pencil in the case and my plans change....often as I get impatient and side tracked by...oh look shiny. LOL next season I need to find a replacement for my backup PG. He is getting old and constantly dropping skills now. He is serviceable but won't last all that much longer for me.

Haha I'm right there with you man. I've also been trying to build my arena, but I keep putting if off! Throughout the season I kept spending a little money here and there on small-salaried young players in hopes of training them. I refused to spend a large chunk of money on one great player, and I had just enough weekly income to ignore my arena. But I also got side tracked by enticing prospects and even highly skilled staff members, and slowly my money and weekly income kept decreasing. I realized that it takes so much time to train a player to a desired level, and I'm trying to get to a win-now mode. Now it's my number one priority to expand my arena and I'll go from there.

Here are my last power rankings as we get set for the final stretch of inter-conference play:

Alone at the Top

1. Strong arm of the law (15-0, W15) [--] - Taking care of business. Need I say more?
Upcoming games: @ #4 Lightning Hoopers, vs. #7 Revengence

Top Five

2. Blaserz (13-2, W5) [--] - After their only two loses coming in a span of three games, they've responded with a five game win streak and have displayed dominance in the run. With a mostly favorable schedule down the stretch, I expect this team to hold on to the top spot in the Big 8 and make a serious run at the title.
Upcoming games: vs #5 Panama Panthers, @ #6 Funky Town Fire
3. Winking Mares (11-4, W4) [Δ3] - As I said before, this is a top 5 team. And their recent performance backs it up. Their frontcourt of Yoon and Hedrick is dominant. Home game vs the GODS AND GODDESSES two games from now will be big.
Upcoming games: @ #7 Revengence, vs #2 GODS AND GODDESSES
4. GODS AND GODDESSES (11-4, W2) [Δ1] - Solid team, lead by Bearden and Papp. Could be higher in the power rankings, and more importantly, the standings, if it weren't for an upset loss at the hands of the Funky Town Fire.
Upcoming games: vs #6 Michigan St., @ #2 Winking Mares
5. Catzzz (11-4, W3) [Δ2] - Catzzz have certainly upped their performance in recent games, and they're coming off of a good win vs the Lightning Hoopers. Remaining schedule seems a bit tough down the road however. Gap between this team and the Javamen is very close.
Upcoming games: vs #6 Funky Town Fire, @ #8 champaign chargers

Third Tier

6. Javamen (11-4, W2) [▽3] - The slide of the Javamen in the power rankings isn't really attributed to their recent play, but rather it's a demonstration of the resurgence of other teams. They've rebounded after their two tough loses against Strong arm and the Winking Mares with two wins.
Upcoming games: vs #8 champaign chargers, @ #4 Mattakeunk Moose
7. Lightning Hoopers (11-4, L2) [▽3] - Things seem to have fallen apart in a hurry after the all-star break, and it doesn't get any easier with Strong arm coming to town next game and a challenging upcoming schedule down the stretch.
Upcoming games: @ vs #1 Strong arm of the law, @ #5 Seirinsclub
8. Mattakeunk Moose (8-7, L1) [--] - Might take a little while for them to get back into title contention, but should still make the playoffs
Upcoming games: @ #7 Lincoln Hornets BC, vs #3 Javamen

Knocking on the Door

9. Funky Town Fire (6-9, L2) [Δ1] - Get the nod here after a nice but unexpected win over the GODS AND GODDESSES.
Upcoming games: @ #2 Catzzz, vs #1 Blaserz
10. Panama Panthers (7-8, L2) [▽1] - Average team, but haven't been making any moves.
Upcoming games: @ #1 Blaserz, vs #7 Lincoln Hornets BC

Yeah dude, I was worried about his low GS and questioned how well my team would play even with homecourt, so I forced myself into CT’ing for the first time last minute. I was really pushing for a much needed win, but still couldn't get it done and my slump continues.

Wow I just made one of my biggest mistakes in all of my seasons on buzzerbeater. I was ready to rage at the game engine, until I realized it was completely my fault in lineup setting. I played all my backups at starting positions, and I intended for my normal starting lineup to come off the bench. However, I mistakenly put my normally starting SG Noiret at PF, so my PF Peixoto didn't play; I also forgot to put my starting PG Duricic in the reserve role so he did not play. Didn't even realize it until I logged in after the game. Should've used depth until 4th, and that could've saved me. So I'm likely going to have to settle for the fourth seed, and a likely early playoff exit smh.

Good to see that the league remains both talkative and somewhat competitive. Strong is looking real strong - and should be able to stick in D.3 when they promote back up. Don't see anyone knocking them off from the league title.
But, there are some developing teams that bode well for a very competitive next season.

As a point of reference for my Fiercekitties who went through the league last season, I am at about .500 - in a tough D.3 league. There is a jump from winning a D.4 league to being somewhat competitive in D.3, but not that big of a leap. To win a D.3 league is a completely different story. I get blown out by my league's top teams . . . and they are playing TIE!!
But, when one promotes, one only needs to make it to the relegation playoffs . . . and win! Nothing else really matters.

Good luck to all.
