I know he's 35 year old, but the fact that a given skill dropped by more than 1 means that for that particular week, the drop in the skill was ridiculously large. It literally means the sublevel dropped by more than 1. This is really unrealistic.

you could come up with two explanations, one technical, one based on real life:

1) sublevels. he dropped from 12.1 to 10.9.

2) he's keeping quiet about some injury, thinks he is going to "play through it", won't admit he's aging.

i wonder what a chart of Shaq's declining skills would look like. he is but a shadow of his former self, if a shadow could be 7'4", 350 pounds. but, including stamina, i could easily see he has dropped 2 skill levels in a year (rebounding? shot blocking?)

i know you probably got unlucky with sublevels, but it's the price you pay for having old players...

Yes i know. I have a fantastic rookie training on that position. The 34yo is just playing his position and fortunately receive the training.

Is it possible for an old player to be trained in a skill, but still drop in the skill?

I'm pretty sure it can.
For example, you were training JS and each training increased JS sublevel by 0.1. But if the drop in sublevel of JS was 0.2 every week, then although you're training, the result is still a drop in a skill.

So I suppose once the rate of decrease in a skill is faster than the rate of increase in a skill, then all you're doing by training is to slow down his rate of skill drops.

no he didn't... never dropped any skill so far...
