I like the rankings except for Catzzz. I know that you said not to hate, but Catzzz always shows up when it matters. They were in the same position last season and they still made the finals without any scares. Thanks for doing this! I know how time consuming it is. I may be able to do some more this summer with no more school to worry about for a couple months.

No problem, doing power rankings definitely is a little bit of a time commitment. And I do agree with what you're saying about the Catzzz, I guess I was just basing their ranking more off of recent performance. However, in their defense, the three losses were against top two-seeded teams. I have no doubt the Catzzz will come back to form, and I've most likely set myself up for them to prove me wrong again haha

I have to say I like my team being in the middle of talk. My team is off the wall that is for sure. I am contemplating starting a rebuild with some of my key younger guys. My team is in contention but still just not good enough to win it all.

I recognized last season that I needed to scale back, build my arena more, and develop the young guys.

I'm building around Barry, Muller and Denny. My hope is that they become a "Big 3" of sorts, a SG, SF and PF, and then I can supply a quality, ball-distributing PG and a defensively solid C.

Who do you think you'd build around if you did?

Yeah. I hope my team can develop together. My team is winning some games, but imagine them together with more training! My oldest player is only 27, so I have a couple more seasons of development before my team is ready for a run. I have Papp and Bearden as my key players at the key positions (C, PG) and Donat is definitely holding his own at PF. I have lots of options at SG and SF, but I am still looking for someone to step up and prove that they should be a full time starter. Right now, it looks like Vrai at SG and I'm starting to lean towards Sherm at SF. Although Frag is the 4th best player on the team, he is more of a PF and I like him better just backing up Donat. As for Nuno and Uren and Claes, I like all 3 at SF, but none have shown they can 1. Contribute consistently and 2. Play well with the other 4 guys (They are ballhogs that are inefficient on offense and defense). Everyone else on my team is a backup that just plays hard for 10 minutes a game, which they do pretty well.

That is my team right now. I'm interested to see how you guys feel about the current state of your team.

To Mr. Bolt, congratulations on developing such a talented Canadian center. He killed me last night! I tried to steal a win before the ASB but no go for the young'uns.

Thanks man. I'm hoping he, along with Noiret and Peixoto, can be the future of the franchise and I'll just continue building around them. Didn't get a chance to watch it, but from what I can tell it was a great game and remained close just until about the very end. Your young big three played well; have lots of potential and should develop into big time studs really quickly.

What are your thoughts on the AS game? Some personal complaints I have: 1. I think Papp should be the starting C. One thing I don't like about the AS game is how much emphasis is put on players on winning teams. Lightning's C is great, but Papp has the best stats for a C in the league. 2 more wins for Lightning should not bench Papp. 2. Donat got no recognition. He averages 19pts and 13rbs and wasnt even in top 4 for great 8 PFs. That doesnt make much sense to me. Anyone else have any complaints?

Well to answer your first question, game shape maybe? Bearden was average while Papp was respectable, and they both played all 48 mins with not much help, so maybe stamina factored in a bit as well.

As for your second question, I think an argument can be made for both Robitaille and Papp for starting positions in the ASG, as well as for the other starters and backups. In this case, if by "best stats for a C in the league" you mean rebounds, yes. Papp averages a whooping 18.9 boards per game, which is amazing. Robitaille averages only 11.5. Papp also averages 0.5 more points per game (16.2 compared to 15.7). While great numbers, you also have to put into consideration that Papp averages 5 more minutes per game than Robitaille (38.6 compared to 33.7).
But I believe Robitaille wins the battle in terms of efficiency. He has a higher overall field goal percentage (55.8% to 52.1%), better free throw percentage which isn't too big of a deal, more assists (4.1 to 3.2), more steals (0.9 to 0.2) and their blocks are pretty much identical (1.9 for Robitaille and 1.8 for Papp). But the biggest factor in consistency is their rating, where Robitaille averages a 13.0 compared to Papp's 11.5.
All that being said, both players are great centers, and I believe the battle for the starter could've gone either way. As for Donat, he's a heck of a player and I think his omission from the top 4 in PF voting can be largely attributed to the depth for that position in the great 8. I felt the same way about Noiret not being in the top 4 for SGs. However, he's missed extended time due to injury, and now he's injured again so maybe that has something to do with it as well. The all star game should be very competitive and I'm looking forward to it!

On another note, congrats to the Winking Mares on your extended cup run!
