I see.
Well, it's not really an assumption, it's what's expected.
Just because the game design isn't perfect, it doesn't make it any less wrong.
What you're basically saying is that the ASG week isn't a regular season week, which I agree and is surreal (IMO, it's not like teams in competition would stop training with games to play ahead in regular season competition but alas, it's what is is

).
Regular season training is/should be regular.
Back when I played (in real life, not the game), we practiced normally/regularly thoughout the regular season because there are games ahead to play/compete in order to advance, regardless of cup ties (a glitch, having two on the same week in the game, of course). We only stopped training when the regular season ended or we were eliminated in the playoffs. Regular season, regular training. I'll give you that the ASG week isn't a normal regular season week, totally agree with that.
Again, you don't really earn anything (other than remaining in competition)... you keep the "status quo" (3 games per week), the other 80/90% of the players (cup eliminated teams) are the ones who lose the game you're "keeping".
Think about it... why would teams mess up with their game shape in the middle of the season for no good reason?
Regular season, regular training.
Again, the suggestion really just was/is to make the ASG week a regular season week as, I suppose, it should be.
