The reason I asked was because years ago back when it wasn't tweaked yet was luckily able to get into the second round of the U21 World championships because U21 managers using coach decides strategy backfired on them. On paper their players were way better than ours but it made very strange lineups that put their players in wrong positions. Was able to win two out of three games because of managers using that strategy. But when the AI was able to make correct placements it was also evident on how stronger a team would be.

Which is why I am wondering why people still use it even though its already less potent and has a tendency to backfire. Again this is not questioning what you did but my thinking back then was why do managers use that strategy when you can set it on your own. Where is the fun of the game when you let the AI set your offense instead of doing it yourself. It nice to be able to pick the brain of a world class national team manager. Thanks again for the reply.

First round is usually a walk in the park its in the second round where you have t be wary of some teams playing normal. Other than that usually we get to the top 6 most of the time. HK and Taiwan are also good teams.

If you get tired of U21 try handling our NT maybe you will be the first manager to get our NT team to the Worlds. :)

Philippines U21 go on a scoring binge, outguns Kazakhstan U21 162 - 98

Philippines U21 coach delivered another showcase of its current pool of talents. It seems that this team is full of surprises. It was reserve guard Victor Gotardo who took the reigns this time, scoring 34 points and dishing out 8 assists as he lead the Filipino squad against Kazakhstan's outside shooting and full-court pressing. Benedict Lagare, who lead the team in scoring against Macau, already had 13 points on 6/9 shooting before fouling out with 3:33 left to go in the first half.

Despite being without one of their main gunner the Filipinos were never threatened throughout the game. They managed through the defense with timely passes and smart shot selection. Both Gotardo and Gayoles threaded the defense with surgical precision to find open teammates or drive through the lane. It also helped that only 8 players suited up for Kazakhstan and as a result they never really sustained the defensive pressure for 48 minutes.

Alvin Gayoles dished out 11 asssists, 6 of them during the 3rd quarter where they outscored Kazakhstan 47 - 17. Fellow reserve guard, Mark Montemayor, contributed 13 of his 21 points also during that run.

Kazakhstan was lead by Ruslan Khan (39 points, 4/8 3FG), Felix Avdyunin (23 Points 5 Rebounds, 4 Asts, 0 TO) and Alibek Ginayatov (17 points 7/16 FTs) but the rest of the team struggled, making only a combined 37% of their shots.

Scores:
Philippines
Gotardo 34, Montemayor 21, Ocampo 21, Salinas 21, Guardia 14, Lagare 13, Macalinag 10, Rios 10, Valerio 8, Gayoles 6, Rojo 4

Kazakhstan

Kaun 39, Avdjunin 23, Ginayatov 17, Gaysin 12, Makarchenko 7, Batyruly 0, Korzhunbayev DNP-CD, Akhmedzakiev DNP-CD

I wanted to add details to the page because the report looks bland without it. I do graphics stuff during my free time so decided to fire up Photoshop and make a template for player graphics like that. I'm glad you like it. Welcome back to the Pilipinas forums coach. :)

Last week we did a good test against Argentina, trying to learn something about how the game engine considers our offense.
Now we have to get back in the competition against a tough rival like Indonesia, with 2 W and 1 L suffered against China last monday using a strange lineup with all big men and no rotations.
I am contacting again many managers because our recruiting never sleeps, we need to plan carefully the future, since our 20yo players are really good, but our 19yo are actually awful. So if you feel you have a player suitable for the U21, don't hesitate to contact me. I'll be happy to provide you an answer and a training plan in order to improve our chance in the next Asia Cup.
Actually we have 18yo at the same level than many 19yo, that's quite weird if we consider that China is way ahead and our goal, you know, is to beat them sooner than later!

Thanks for your help, don't forget to keep the player in shape, this week we had some issues and some of our key players dropped badly in shape so we have to think
See you on monday!
