Respectfully, I’d have to disagree with you. I believe that the offsite and discord app channel serve as valuable platforms for managers seeking advice and are vital for NT success. I find that the manager’s whom gravitate to these offsite platforms are dedicated and active BB-USA community memebers looking to improve, and these are the managers I willingly offer my advice to. The success of the USNT can be largely contributed to the group of managers on the US offsite over the years. Moreover, these platforms are great because you have many experienced managers crowdsourcing their opinions for all to read and have access to.
Community involvement is necessary for success at the U21 level, as anyone can train a U21 player. To succeed at the NT level, you don’t need more than a dozen high-level managers dedicated to training the right builds from 22-26 YO seasons.
Discord is nothing more than a glorified group chat. I don’t understand why it’s pushed over the offsite. You’re right, the offsite was key to our success. I think it still stands as a key tool for us to move forward. Yet, it’s not advertised at all.
Some people...
keyword: Some
Some people.... prefer the "group chat" over the off-site, as the discord group chat is more convenient with having an app.
Some people.... prefer it because you can more easily see who's active and on-line.
Some people.... prefer it because compared to the offsite its easier to mute, kick, or block people who have dissenting opinions/voices as you.
A problem from my point of view, is that any, on-site, off-site, discord, line, facebook, myspace, CraigsList, classified ads in a local highschool newspaper. WHATEVER the forum is. None should be pushed over others, as that RESTRICTS accessibility by some and RESTRICTS communication.
ALL of them should be used, by everyone, A reason I personally do't like Discord: There's so much chatter in there. Questions asked to help further engage minds to understand GE mechanics and such go unnoticed or un-responded to.
On the off-site, it's there forever, easier to find and search, same as here on-site but on-site is viewable by anyone.
I guarentee you who'll step in and same something in response to
this: The discord is just another highschool clicque in the cafeteria to choose from. The off-site is another. the on-site is another.
We need to get people to throw aside the clique-y-ness and just see it all as one communal group.
