Because I want to win in Asia and obviously not with China.
My favourite spot would have been Philippines or Australia, but I'd really love to begin something new. In Australia the current coach is in charge since season 20 more or less, so he established his legacy and his way of doing things.
Here in Philippines I see you have some valuable players and I'm sure I can help you with my experience to improve a lot.
I would like to win, this upcoming season would be very difficult since Taiwan has Home Court Advantage, China is China and Australia seems pretty good, but season after season I hope we can make the gap closer.

Hi coach! Glad to see a league veteran like you applying for the U21 coaching job.

My question is:

1.)If you win this year's elections, what are your expectations for the U21 team this year only?

2.) How would you rate our chances of winning against the strong nations considering the level of talent that we currently have?

3.) What sort of player build(s) do you prefer?

Thanks for your time and I wish you all the best on election day. :) (Let me know if you need a PR manager)

I'm starting from the last quote.
I do not need you as PR manager. I WANT you as PR manager!
Your reports are awesome, so please, be a part of my staff please!

For all your questions:

1 and 2) The first season for a new coach is always the most difficult, because you need to play with a roster you did not build. You need to give your input to the new managers and whatever. So my expectations for this season are not so optimistic since Taiwan has home court advantage, China is one step ahead and Australia has the same staff as always, so consolidated method and solid players. We are in the mix for the semifinals I think, we have some good options but we have also some lacks according to what I know right now.
I'd like to use this season also to work for the future, 20yo and 19yo players needs to grow up according to my guidelines in order to have strong case in the future! In Italy I won 5 medals (2 golds) in 8 seasons, in one of the largest community across all BB. Taking a small nation is a challenge, surely more difficult because I can't make mistakes, but basically 18 at max are the players and if these 18 players will reach "italian-like" level we can compete against anyone.
Can't say right now if it will be something faster or if I will need more time, but this is my goal. To win.

3) My way to play BB is quite particular. I build up rosters with chemistry, which is not a real skill in BB but one of my strongest beliefs on how the game engine works.
I mean, I don't need 5 big men all with the same skills, I don't need 5 playmakers with the same skills. I do like to pair offensive players together with defensive ones. So just to give some numbers, the strongest team in all the U21 history, my Italy S37 (42314), had a Point Guard Out Def+PA, an all around SG with also high Inside Shooting, an inside oriented small forward, which had low Out Def, low Range, even quite low Jump Shot but High IS and Driving, at PF we had an offensive monster (19 IS) and in C a shot blocker+rebounder with only 14 IS (which is quite low, actually also Philippines have 14 IS).
Putting them together created that letal combination of defense and offense in which every side of the court was covered. And that helped a lot in the last seasons in which our roster was poor. Against you for example, our roster was really not on target, I needed to pick up Dino Huscher because I had no offensive players and even with his lacks (Dino was only 10+8 in Defense), the chemistry with all the defenders he had around him helped us to pick up the win.

That's what I would like to replicate, I will put my Utopia Team also to grow Philippines' players with my level 7 trainer, so I hope that something good can come out!

What do you think?
Would you join me?

Thanks for laying out your future plans in detail and we are both in agreement that it is always tough for new managers to start in a new team that they have only inherited. It's good that you are aware of this and have a realistic plan in place, I'd say you're on the right track.

We hope you will be able to actualize your national training program and succeed in your bid as U21 manager. I can give you my assurance that I will lend my assistance on whatever capacity to our National Team as PR Manager. (y)

I trained also Ireland NT in the past, carrying them one match away from an incredible qualification to the second European round. So I know how a small community can work and how critical can be, but I'm pretty confident on how to revert or improve things.
Most important is to have the community on my side, because I can do miracles (I hope!), but without players or without shape nobody can achieve anything.
As I said, no secret, I'll share all my training plans, all the numbers, everything in order to win something.

Filipinos are very passionate about basketball and how our national teams are run. I myself see the national and U21 head coach positions as sacred and thus have not applied because of the commitment needed despite my enjoyment of this game. How would you respond to a section of the community that prefers a Filipino coach. Secondly, given your experience how would you link the U21 team and the National team for long term success in both programs. Lastly good luck with the election, we welcome everyone who wants to bring glory to the Philippine basketball program.

Hello! Nice to meet you.

I would divide my answer in three sides:

- commitment: I already proved how dedicated I can be. Without even know if I'll be the coach or not I acquired two filipino 18yo spending 2,5M in order to let them grow with my lev. 7 trainer. That's nothing obviously, but I can guarantee you that in my coaching there won't be any difference with what I did in Italy. If you want, it would be great to me to carry you a Discord channel. It helped us a lot in the last season to create a sense of community which have been lost in the past seasons. In Italy we had several issues because of no one on the forum or even answering to our BB Mails and using Discord was amazing for us. Every monday we had users following our U21/NT, our staff was able to communicate better (instead of using BB Mails or whatsapp or whatever) and most of the users were really happy because they can learn simply by asking in some kind of a live chat with us. This is Discord if you want to look into it more: https://discordapp.com/
If you all agree, it would be fine for me to create a Filipino channel.

- being foreign coach: I know it can be a problem unfortunately. And it is not my method to push me if people simply don't want me. What I can bring here is 40 seasons of experience in Italy, one of the most difficult countries, 10 seasons coaching U21/NT (Italy U21 8 and Ireland NT 2), all my "secrets", all my knowledge of this game with the porpouse to win. I am not the kind of person who likes to lose time, so if I candidate myself is because I believe in what I am trying to do. And I will be fully dedicated to it, fully available to talk with everyone, to answer to all your questions, to explain my choices, to give you details about training or whatever. I want to win and it will require development, so be sure that I'll be more here in your forum and in BB mails with you instead of all the other stuff I do in the game As I said, I didn't even ask to anyone in Italy to join me here. I'll be the lone foreign, because for the rest I want you to be a part of it. I want Filipino staff, I talked with the current staff and I would welcome anyone of you onboard if you desire. Just ask and I'll be glad to add you.

- U21/NT: in Italy I was well incline to merge our training programs with the NT coach. At the beginning of each season, we together took a look at every prospect trying to decide which one could have been more suitable for a U21 run or which one to directly set up for a future in NT. It applies mainly to high potential and all around players, so that helped a lot to create some standards. For example, legendary potential with good skillset for us started immediatly with one on one SF/PF, to boost their HN which is the greatest skill related to elastic training. I know that here the # of players are not so high as it is in Italy, so losing a potential prospect could be bad, but basically I'll be always open for discussion with the NT

Hope this answer is enough for your question. Feel free to ask me more if needed

Good day, Coach NdR619!

I appreciate the fact that you are going to bring your golden experience to boost our U21 program. I know that it is a very rare opportunity for a country to be coached by a world-renowned BB Manager! The last time that our U21 team was handled by a foreign coach was approximately 16 seasons ago where he brought the team into absolute glory that was unmatched ever since. I know that each person is unique in skills and mindset. I hope that, if ever you win, you could surpass that achievement.

I just want to ask the following questions:

1) How are we going to be sure that you are not going to share any confidential information from our country (player's skillset, etc.)? For example, you are going against Italia U21. Aren't you going to spill any info or give way to them? Will your loyalty to us still remain the same?

2. In connection to jeorge9's question, considering that there are over 90+ countries in BB, why the Philippines? You also said that you aim to become the first ever Grandslam coach, winning in Asia, Africa, and Europe. Isn't this for personal gain or to increase your already built reputation?

3. There has been inactivity in our community for a long time. For sure, some newbies out there are not even aware of U21's existence! Therefore, they have no knowledge how to train. And, given the fact that they are still new to the game, they are shy to approach a veteran to ask how to develop a player. How are you going to spread awareness regarding this matter?

4. We know that you are already an experienced manager. Playing BB for 40 seasons (approximately 11 years) is such an achievement. Included in those countless achievements are handling Italy and Ireland. However, this is your first time handling an Asian team, if ever you will win. Are you ready to supervise people of other culture? Surely, Italy and the Philippines have a culture gap (Forget about pizza. We love pizza). Are you able to gel well with us? How will you handle culture shock, if this happens?

5. Aside from your experience, what is your edge over other local candidates that makes you a good fit for the job?

6. You also mentioned in one of your posts in this forum that your game philosophy is quite particular, making the right offensive and defensive combinations. It is a common tendency among us to develop all-around players: that they want to see that their players have many pops. We know for sure that you cannot develop a perfect player within 3 seasons only. Do you believe that the Philippines is ready for this change of training philosophy?

7. How confident are you that you are what our nation is looking for? The team has faced many problems for these past few years. Lack of talent. Lack of support. Lack of coordination. Are you the solution we are looking for?

Thank you in advanced!
