Game 3 Vs Thailand
Taking the low ranked Thailand side the Australian team looked to move the ball. While the passing was good the team while always in front did not blow the opposition away as much as some expected. It was some strong foul issues to a number of Australia players giving the Thailand side 36 free throws and their winning the boards the Australian side was able to get a close win 108 to 88.
Melmeth was dominated inside early but fouling out early in the 2nd half put some pressure on the big rotation which affected the teams energy with their rebounding.
POM
3 - C. Xingui coming off the bench with a team leading 18 points giving the team the spark off the bench needed.
2 – R. Melmeth was a major force inside like always unitl being fouled out.
1 – K Scully – Did not miss a shot all day making 5 from 5 and also added 6 rebounds, 4 assists and no fouls.
Game 4 Vs Indonesia
Heading into the round there were 3 undefeated teams in the group and the loser of this game would make it only 2 left. While the Indonesian side tried to focus the defence in stopping Melmeth inside the team pushed the ball up court and with the addition of the recalled Gingut to the side and Hamburger moving back to his preferred 2 spot the side was able to find open shots all over the court with the 3 players combining for 81 points as the team won 121 to 104 on a much more disciplined performance.
POM
3 – G, Gingut combined 27 points with 5 assists and 3 steals providing the team with a huge increase in energy at both ends of the court.
2 – R. Melmeth team leading 32 points with 11 rebounds getting yet another double double adding a few assist also in much more disciplined games.
1 – J. Hamburger – returning the 2 spot allowed him to space the floor with solid outside shots as well as taking the ball to the rim.
The team is yet to face China which will decided who leads the group into the 2nd phase of the championship. Some supporters have let it be known they are not happy with the running of the team but failed to speak up and offer solutions as what could be done better. This lack of support for the team partly lead to the one of the most successful managers of the team leaving after last season.
