Springfield Adds Another Building Block

On Sunday evening, the Springfield Storm purchased the contract of Elvio Palmulli for $63,000. This is obviously a long term move for the Storm, as the 19 year old didn't play a single minute last season as a rookie due to a season ending injury. They hope that he can contribute this season and beyond. Coach C thinks that he could be the team's starting PG as soon as Season 29, "Unfortunately he (Elvio) couldn't make it on the court last year, but there's no denying that the kid has potential. I think he can be a starter for this franchise and a superstar in this league. Honestly I expect there to be growing pains, but I also expect for Elvio to deal with them as a mature professional. That's what this team is all about." Coach C also had high praises on the Italian Point Guard's work ethic, "He made a great impression at his first practice today. He was the first to come and the last to leave. He's a smart, coachable kid who I think will do everything in his power to contribute to this team this year and beyond." When asked if Elvio would suit up for tomorrow's game, Coach C had this to say, "The kid's a film junkie, I have a feeling he will have a full grasp of the offense by tomorrow night."
The Coach also stated that if he feels Elvio is ready, he will pencil him in the starting line up at Shooting Guard while also seeing minutes at Point Guard. The General Manager of the Springfield Storm made it clear that he's hoping that Elvio can be the next major building block to be developed within their own system. it's hard to ignore their recent track record in developing players (Ian Kosta, Jordi Zurita, and Denis Radzevich). The team and it's fans hope that Elvio can continue the run.

Well after spending last season in a league where I was the only human, I'm glad to have actual players to go against. I look forward to learning lessons, and hopefully teaching a few. This season, I'm hoping to be a playoff team and to develop a few players. We shall see how that works out...

The Manger of the Deadman went off on a reporter yesterday after being asked about the 102 - 68 thrashing they took in the opener a transcript of the interview is provided

Interviewer: Spreingfeild Storm, Chicago Kings storm and Drunken Clams have all been making big moves to upgrade there teams are the dead men going to aquire new talent as well

GS: No

Interviewer: but you took a real whipping in your opener, isnt that a wake up call that you need to upgrade your roster

GS: NO

Interviewer: but sir with your team and undersized roster how do you expect to make the playoff, the playof...

GS: PLAYOFFS!!! PLAYOFFS!! YOU THINK WERE GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS!!! YOUR AN IDIOT! I just took over this team and every starter on the team jumped ship with the coaches that left. I was left with a team of scrubs that my daughter could beat on the court, and she's six. i finally was able to get some decent staff to come over, but they ask for a raise every week as if the losses we take and the injuries to our starters are something to be proud of. many of these team have been playing for many seasons and you think my bunch of scrubs is going to beat them? ... humph .... playoffs .... idiot.

Looks like everybody knocked down their 1st round bot in the cup, including the blue side's two absentee managers.

Next week's cup matches vs. non bots:

CHI hosts SA Spur 1, a current conference leader from IV.55. Odds are, the Chi-town Storm breezes into the next round.

The Minis host a veteran manager when Big City Enforcers come to town. Last season's III.3 Great 8 5th place has firepower if he decides to use it. And he will likely use it to end the Minis cup run.

The absentee Scheming face Triple B 23, a team that relegated last season from IV.50. Will auto-pilot be enough to snag a win? At best it's 50-50.

WIL travel to Rucker Park to take on USA Playas from IV.21. Basically two bigs and a bunch of schmoes. But without a any dominant players, the outcome will depend on whether the Playas save their bigs for league play.

Deadmen visit Teiko Miracles, a middle-of-the-road team from IV.51. Doesn't look like Easter will come soon enough to resurrect these deadmen.

Delpra faces the team ranked just ahead of them - the Seaside Maulers of III.16. Unless they can reinvest quickly after the impending sales of Troutman and Fitzgerald, DEL is likely to be mauled on their home court.

Making an appearance at Beaver Bend, Muggles Basketball Club of IV.35 will challenge SPE. With two stacked rosters, it will come down to who wants it more. If spenn wants it, they better bring the magic.

Despite being ranked lower than their opponent, going up against the noob manager at the helm of the London Lobsters from V.18 should be a walk in the park for Linndale – especially at home.

Another D.V walloping should be dished out by the Raleigh Roughriders when they visit Team Ros3 and its noob manager in V.2.

The pared-back, injury-weakened Tsunami will have a tough time beating anyone this season if they don't fix their roster soon. However that happens, it probably won't be fixed before their cup game. Happily for Seattle, the roster of the visiting Gators158 from IV.44 is an even bigger mess, which very well might be washed away by the tidal wave.
