Back to the original question...

Just my opinion, but I would take the 5 star rated player over the 4 stars with a B grade. It might change my mind if the 4 star player was 18 years old, because you don't know the age of the 5 star player.

If I've only scouted a guy once and he has a good box score and a 5 star rating, is there a good chance that he is better than someone who's been scouted twice and has a B grade and 4 star rating?

all player with a four star rating has B grade, in the B grade only the "+" and "-" are intresting because they show the tendency. If he has 4-5 Star potential + 18 year old, i would choose him before the just 1 time scouted 5 ball rating players.

Ok similar question who do you rate better

Both players have 5 Star ratings and one is 18 with a 2 potential the other is 19 with a 3 potential.

Who do you take? What is the potentials are 3 and 4 does your answer change?

cheers

i might get the two star rated player with 5 star potential than those guys.

more or less, it is all about matter of what you want... for me, star rating is more on getting short term players while potential stars are more on the long term, because the better potential, the better player to train...

that's why it's best to get players who are both high in rating and in potential.

heck, i might even get players with 3 star rate, with 3 potential than those blokes...

oh, and also, I only get 18 year olds...

From those two I would pick the older one. I think that 2 potential could be starter potential at best, not so good.

What is the potentials are 3 and 4 does your answer change?

Yes, with those two potentials I would probably take the younger one with 3 than 19yrs. old with 4. 3 potential can be all-star and that is not that bad. You will have few more drafts before reaching top divisions anyway till then such a palyer should be ok for you. On the other hand if you picks for market profit 4 potential is a great bump in market value.

I would look at the boxscore too to see how much they could fit your already existing/planned training regime too. It could reveal some weakness you wouldn't your player to have a bit.
