What does being a legend have to do with it? Legendary players have failed as coaches before and legendary players will fail as coaches again.

He isn't anywhere near as legendary as Magic was. How did Magic's coaching career pan out?

While it is possible that he could become a credible coach there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to think that he is a good candidate.

Saying he would do better than Isiah is not a compliment either. I have a 3 year old daughter who I feel confident could do a better job that Isiah has.

Why would you assume in any way that someone deserves the benefit of the doubt just because he was a good player?

You don't just give someone a head coaching job in the NBA, no matter how good they were as players. Even if you are the Knicks.

| agree that being a good player doesn't mean a guy deserves a coaching job, but I also believe anybody deserves the benefit of the doubt. It's like me, I never played baseball in my whole life, but I like to tell myself that "who knows, maybe that was my calling after all.." hahahahahaha

Anyway guys, don't worry, my Knicks will find somebody.. I hope...

a lot of players think by being good or having a name in the nba can stir or do a coaching job!

i mean they can be good coaches but usually its not!

it depends on how much basketball IQ they have! a coach isnt just about shouting of calling plays but you have to be fast and quick witted in deciding what plays to call down the stretch of a game.

knowing which players to play, given the talent you have against another team. especially on a weaker note. remember you dont get much glory as a coach compare as a player.

its hard work, analyzing plays, building plays , what training to do for players which the assistant coaches will do!, number of hours watching games on recorded video. etc!

You have made my point for me. Isiah was an incredible player and he has his job mostly because of that reputation. As you can see it hasn't worked out so well.

Isiah was hired because of what he did as a player and it was a MISTAKE. Ewing was also a great player but he demonstated even less coaching potential as a player than Isiah did...so why in the world would you want him to coach?
