White balls mean nothing, except that if you're lucky, all the high potential prospects would fall into group demonstration, and you will have their star rating revealed. If you're not (came across such a case before, I have two 5 ball potential players from group demo and further scouting, then found another hidden with 3 or more white balls), then you have to bet on spending more points to dig up high potential players.
