I narrowly avoided paying the tax this week. But, like you, my attendance in the last week of the season was the lowest of the season. (Following my only defeat of the season.) Once the playoffs started my attendance went up, but as you said the economy still records the regular season game as the last attendance when calculating revenue. I don't understand why that is. The difference was close to 90k which makes an enormous difference to profit/loss calculations.

I'm not sure if I'd say that no one should pay tax this week, but at the very least I'd have thought it made sense to count a playoff game as your last home game.

Well, I have the same issue here. I bought a player and thought that I'd have to pay overextension-tax just once and was very surprised that I had to pay again this monday. I know that there was a discussion about the economy update counting always before the games are played. So I was very sure that this week would be the first in the season (as it has the first game scheduled on Saturday) and therefore I wouldn't have to pay those taxes. And if you have the attendance in PO-games, it would be only fair if you used those for the overextension-tax calculations ...

It would be very nice if something could be done about those issues - if not in the short run, definitely in the long run...

and I'm voting strongly for not having to pay overextension taxes in the first two weeks of the new season (meaning today and next monday - especially since the trainees haven't got new sailaries yet which would in my case probably have nullified the tax) ...

So this week counts as "old season" even though the games (also the scrimmage on thursday) are counted as part of the "new season"? It's just a bit confusing. And I remember that there was this discussion because all teams have to pay players salaries this week because - if I remember correctly - this week was counted as the new season. Or am I completely mistaken?

btw: I understand what you're telling me - but still, this is just a bit confusing and maybe this should be clarified

Yes, but my last home game was - as bananmat pointed out - in the POs where the attendance usually is slightly higher. I don't see why teams that go deep into the POs and pay full salaries should not get at least that small "bonus" where the calculations of the OET use the last home-playoff-game...

btw: I don't really understand (and have never understood) why the attendance in the final game of the best-of-three series is not sold out and has a smaller audience than the first game even though it's the most important game of the season ... but that's just a small thing besides the "main" suggestion ...

I must admit that I do find the small gate for the last home game to be annoying

But not annoying as the fact that the last home gate is used throughout the finals series for the calculations of the over extension tax.

My Utopian team went 21 W & 1 L during the regular season but my gates slipped from $211,351 at a peak, down to $165,420 for the last home game, thus meaning that my team was paying an extra $23 K a week in over extension taxes during the finals series plus added interest on debt
