Wait to see what you draft before you commit, either train bigh guys (which are easier as you just rotate training IS/ID/Reb) or guards which are harder as you need to train more things. As a beginner I would look to train realistically 5 players 48+ minutes a week you dont want to fall short a minute or two either as it makes a difference. With good minute management 5 is not difficult to do. You want 5 guys that are 18-20 years old as they will train better than older players.

I agree with both. Wait till after the draft and just buy young at one side (big or small). Don't be afraid of the old guys because you can get some okay guys cheap (because no one pays a lot for guys on the down side of their career). Also, don't think you need to get guys with MVP potential. Save your money and get people with lesser potential. The high potential guys are expensive when they are 18 and if you built them up well you wouldn't be able to afford them and would have to sell them anyway (salary's can go up quick in two season's). Well said, for a new player you dont need players with high potential.

Hi I am in the same situation. A new team. Almost all players are horrible except two guys and they are both 31. So I have taken a really long term view. Train this pack of worthless duds into a lean, mean, basketball machine. I really don't think you can train both bigs and smalls at the same time but then again I am going to try some kinky SF action this season depending on the draft. My suggestion is see what you get in the draft. Try to get 5 players, age 18-19, potential at least star and the correct height (this is actually VERY important and often forgotten by us noobs) and then train them. Try to work on the core skills the most but a well balanced player is both cheaper and trains faster.

Be carefull as SF's are the hardest to train. I do not recommend you training those if you are a beginner, the training is a little slow and you might get impatient or worse frustrated. For beginners I recommend training tall guys as you just get 5 18-19 year olds and rotate IS/ID/Reb.
