Otherwise, I was also thinking that
if the defensive gain caused by inside defense specialization with high SB in 3-2 and 1-3-1 zones is much greater than the offensive drop,
then SB could be gently adjusted depending on the type of zone defense — for example, slightly reducing the chance of a block when using a 3-2 or 1-3-1 zone.
I have a new idea.
(I'm not sure whether it has already been implemented or not.)

The concept of "open shot" could be divided into different levels, and both defense and shot blocking could have varying effects depending on the level of openness.

In theory, zone defense tends to result in larger open shots more often than man-to-man defense, but it also tends to have more help defense.
Shot blocking would have less impact on wide-open shots compared to less open ones, which can also be seen as another way to counter shot blocking.
This might make zone defense more realistic and may offer a chance to achieve better balance between man-to-man and zone defense.

It's not just that.
I think each change should be gentle.
If, all of a sudden, the current mainstream strategy becomes way too weak or the salaries increase too much, the gameplay experience for players could become really frustrating and make them want to quit the game.
This part also takes time.

Update: Added "It's not just that." at the beginning.

Hello

From the guide. Shot blocking. Doesn’t work with guards on the three point line areas.

A good. Defender has more than just Sb Id,OD. I assume there’s hidden traits.

Your basically talking about team flow, open shots is based on passing, positioning, jump shot. Handling

I can help you with jump shot % if your willing to discuss it.

Sorry, I might have made you misunderstand.
What I meant by “open shot” wasn’t just about three-point or perimeter shots — I was referring to open shots from all positions, including inside the paint.

You're right — open shots are closely related to team flow.

But what I was trying to talk about is the way open shots are defined.
Is it just two situations — being guarded or open — with only one level of openness?
Or are there multiple levels of openness, meaning a shot could be guarded, or have different degrees of being open?
(Actually, I don’t know which one BB uses either.)

Compared to having just one open-shot level, having multiple levels of openness would clearly make the system more detailed and closer to real-life situations
