Nothing like accidentally leaving your best player off of the lineup in a game that is a toss up. Gonna mess up training this week too

What is going on. It is 8 pm, a Tuesday night and the games are not underway? Is it an apocalypse? Or just holiday laziness?

It looks like tomorrow night is a preview of the probable Finals series, with Unedible Nut hosting ATL the Hawks. Not sure I'm in the right frame of mind to analyze the matchup since both teams had 20 point leads against me (ATL in the first freaking quarter) and both games had my team missing shots to tie it in the last five seconds of the game. If I did have to decide, I'd say the HCA is probably enough to wing it to Unedible Nut, keeping their perfect record alive, but I've been around BB enough that there'd have to be something in the play by play about one of the players posting their nutsack up on a partially-shaved goat to actually end up surprising me. (And if anyone is upset they're not one of the "probable finalists", they should really try not to be three or more games back ten games into the season). ;)

In terms of a nearly-midseason review, I'm pretty happy with where my team is. The stretch of four straight losses in the league, capped by getting CT'd out of the Cup was not pleasant, but only one of the losses was by double digits and two of them had chances to tie miss, so all in all it's pretty good. I'm also happy that four of my players are in the top five in made three pointers, and I've got the top three guys in blocked shots (with two guys in both groups),and my streak of four seasons with better three point shooting than two point shooting seems safe so far. Still have a chance at finishing in the top four and avoiding a relegation series, which would be a great season in my book.

I have an interesting proposal for Revolutionizing Buzzerbeater in the future.

With the Buzzerbeater all star break approaching and the NBA offseason having a lot of fireworks it has me thinking: How about adding trading to buzzerbeater sometime in the near future? What is professional basketball without a little trade noise? It's part of the games excitement.

This is my proposal: Let teams trade within their 16 team league. This limits cheating because chances are low that people own two teams in the same league. Even if someone were to cheat, it'd be a good way to catch cheating (it's fairly easy to know if a trade is unbalanced). Obviously a deadline can be made (probably the Friday after the All Star game). Player confidentiality may be controversial when it comes to trades. Maybe it would not be fair if you can see the players whole skill set when proposing a trade. At the very minimum, it would be nice if you could see their stamina and free throw ratings, but maybe the rest would be confidential? (And it's up to you to do your own research on the rest).

The reason why I'd like to do this so much, is it would rekindle the Buzzerbeater community. I'm sure many of you are tired of seeing private league invitations and want to have real genuine competitive conversations on here. This would be a great way to connect the community. I think PM's should be allowed if trading is implemented because negotiations are key.

My man, Jan Mylek had been a shot blocking machine down at L3 (2+ bpg in five of his last six seasons) finally had a big game at L2 tonight, 8 block in a big victory for the Telecasters tonight, just two blocks away from a triple double.

We've lost a few tough games here in L2, I've had two one point losses (one of them I was playing a bit out of position for training, grrr), and a loss where I forgot to set my lineup (real life issues getting in the way, oh the life of divorced father of two girls). IF we win those three, we are 9-3 and sitting pretty for the playoffs. Instead, we have the point differential lead in a three way tie for third. Should be a good battle for the last two playoff spots in the Great 8 over the last ten games.

As far as Nate's proposal, its interesting, but I don't know how you can make that work without seeing TSP or even going even further and having some sort of advance scouting team. I always thought it would be nice if advanced scouts could give you some sort of approximate of a players skill, something like that would be a nice way for teams to target players and facilitate trades. But Nate's idea would be a nice way to get communication between the leagues more active and probably a better way for a team to rebuild than simply selling and trying to buy young talent.

Good luck to everyone here in the second half of the season.

Nice win last night. I'll tell you what, I was shocked to pick up the W last night. Huge win for my squad to get to 5-7 rather than being 4-8. I had my starting SG and my starting SF foul out. Then my starting PG gets hurt in the fourth quarter and then my backup PF/C gets hurt for the remainder of the game. Somehow my team still forced overtime towards the end of the 4th and then we pulled it out in overtime short 4 players. Wild win. Tough loss for the Barbaric Yawps.

I saw your Rik Smit Clogs lost last night GM-Hrudley. They had been hot coming into that game, but I guess Window Lickers' defense was a little peskier than I thought it was. Only 50 points put up for the clogs.

Yeah. We shot 17% in the first half and had 8 defensive boards vs. 13 offensive boards for them (though, of course, we had 6 offensive boards by then too). It's pretty much just more proof that outside offenses are broken - because you get games like that, and then you have the one where my team shot literally 60% from 3 against ATL the Hawks for no discernable reason.

It's frustrating not because I lost, because I have no problem losing in ways I deserve to. There's no way they should have only forced 12 turnovers last night, for example - but it should have been something like a 95-84 type loss, where their damn PF scored 50 and I shot a reasonable percentage but couldn't overcome the turnovers. The black swan type quarters and halves are just too frequent.
