Game of the Night

Saturday February 18

1 Pszczyna Team (2-0) @ 2 Keyes Kops (2-0)

Preview of the Great 8 conference finals? Both these teams are considered contenders for championship and practically locks for first and second place in the great 8. Keyes Kops has been in D.II.1 since season 7, and is looking to advance, with a dangerous team from Top to bottom, this might be there shot. Meanwhile Pszczyna Team have been in D.II.1 since season 14. Having made a strong push last season and narrowly avoiding relegation, Pszczyna Team is now considered a contender for championship. Whats on the line for this game so early in the season? possible playoff HCA, bragging rights, and being able to see early, who the serious contenders are.

Key match up tonight
Point Guards
Domènec Viyuela (11866052) - Pszczyna Team
vs
Ron Zisterer (10637948) - Keyes Kops

too excited to do a writeup now. missed 4 FT at the end of a game in a row, but still managed to pull of an incredible and spectacular win :D. In large part thanks to Liu Tong Tam who always managed to take matter in his own hands in most important parts of the game. Qikun was also sensational with his offensive rebounds.

Annoyed with FT shooting though. it's terrible

got an injury to my only big man sub, luckily only short term

by the way. Keyes CT'ed :d whoever is playing them on tuesday, please grab a win :D (sorry keyeskid ;P)

Ok, I have cooled down a bit, let's do this:

Webfoots- 88s 105-73

Webfoots emerges as a next very strong team in red conference. They put up an amazing ratings, and have managed to win their away game comfortably with a nice margin. With a style of play they really remind me of Keyes Kops, with great point guards, and strong power forward, but I believe they dont have required depth yet to make a run for it, and first round of playoffs will be max that they can achieve (feel free to prove me wrong). They might still pull out a couple of surprises and best teams should watch out for them,

player of the game: Costa, impressive performance by Webfoots' PG. 13 Assists, 17 points, 4 steals, and most importantly zero turnovers.

The Dream Shakers- Montreal Visoders 87-76

Another win for an away team. Extra effort by Visoders wasnt enough to win this home game. I am afraid Montreal will have to fight for relegation this season, and Dream Shakers are capable of getting to the first round of playoffs.

Player of the game: Byrne. Montreal's SF put up impressive performance, and even though he is on losing side, I still give him an MVP nod. 27 points and 10 rebounds, on 18 shots

Pszczyna- Keyes 93-81

Really an exciting game to watch. until end of the game, 8 point advantage was almost unreachable for either team (a lead liek that didnt last longer than couple of seconds). It was never decided until last minute of action. Keyes did use a crunch time in this game, but Pszczyna was able to take a win with a normal. Simplycrazy predicted the crucial matchup to be between PG's and even though the score doesnt reflect that it turned out to be true. For some reason until last quarter nothing wanted to get into the basket, and the 90% of points were earned by dunks from delivieries from a backcourt.

Player of the game: Liu Tong Tam 8 assists, and 20 points in 15 shots. Even though it is pretty impressive, it wasnt the deciding factor. Liu Tong Tam managed to score in pretty much every crucial important in the game (especially when Keyes managed to get within 2 points, and Pszczyna's SF scored 5 in a row). He also came up with some crucial stops in a moments that caused manager's heart almost to explode.

Haylors- Ottawa 76-96

After three games won by away teams, this time home court advantage was too much to overcome. Ottawa switched offensive tactic, and allowed their star PG to get better looks than with Patient tactics. That's why he managed to score 41 points and lead Ottawa Lightning to victory.

player of the game: S. Alm
41 points, including 7 three pointers, only one turnover. He took 34 shots so the percentage wasnt great, but it's still an improvement over last game, and with no real competition, this time he managed to grab MVP award

Soul Crashers- We are Legends 105-102

Another tight game this week. Two FT missed by Crasher's PG with 10 seconds left on the clock gave Gkalistos a chance to force an overtime with last second three pointer, but Legend's best player missed the shot with a defender in his face. Away team grabs another victory this week, and We are Legends look like another team that will fight for 5th spot to avoid relegation series. Soul Crashers, together with Ottawa and Webfoots will fight for 2 playoff spots (I believe keyes and Pszczyna sshould have remaining two spots secured)

Player of the game: Retiro. 5 three pointers made with 28 points in total. he also managed to grab 7 boards. The only scratch on his otherwise perfect game was a foulout with 5 minutes to go in a game. Luckily his team still managed to win so no consequences there.

Sherbrookers- The Syndicate 67-91

Comfortable win for home-side, and i believe that extra effort wasnt required here. Syndicate outreboudned their opponents by 15 and they made use of extra possesions.

Player of the game: Dennis Moffet.
He was exceptional today. 12 points on 11 shots doesnt sound impressive, but you cant argue with 20 rebounds, including 6 offensive ones. Also what got my attention is 15.5 rating. It is insane for a guy with respectable GS and 38 mintues of playing time. Especially with only 80k salary (not very big for a big man)

Ruffian- Scarborough 83-92.

After decent rookie season in league II, Ruffian drops to 0-3 on the beginning of this one. That's not a good news for them, but they did face pretty hard opposition already. Stampeders are one of the contenders, and they managed to take this one by 9, even without using inside attack.

Player of the game: Laval. in 27 minutes he managed to get nice double-double (14 points and 14 boards), and lead Scarborough to a victory.

Cerebreal- Soaring Eagles 101-93

Cerebreal was able to win tough away game, and they are back on the top of conference II (no, I havent forgotten about your team simplycrazy, I consider both of you to be contending teams). Impressive ratings (especially on away game), make him a main favourite for Naismith spot next season.

Player of the game: Laughlin. With a guy like Barthel passing the ball, Cerebreal's power forward had it easy. 27 points on 13-18 shooting and 13 rebounds are enough to snatch player of the game award.

Nice win. I honestly didnt expect you to win, and it seems like you were the underdog going into this one, with most people in Bballn's predition thread predicting a keyes win. Good job

true, I predicted that I will lose myself (honestly, just to have at least something out of this game if I lose) :D I am seriously psyched about this one. After all I was using less effort and didnt have HCA. Looks like most of the individual matchups are going my way, since team ratings aren't as good as i expected

on tuesday you are the one having important game and being an underdog

Nice Write up. I have a string of bad luck dating back from last season. I think I will break up my team soon and see what can I do next season.

I wouldnt do that if I was you. Seriously, tanking sucks, and your team is not that bad. you can easily win relegation series and just stay in this league and compete next season.

By the way. Looks like We are Legends is going bot. Sucks for my PD, because I will be the last team that will face their current roster if my calculations are correct and they go bot tommorow.

Woke up late, sorry this is posted so late

Game of the Night

Tuesday February 21

1 Scarborough Stampede (3-0) @ 2 Cerebral Assassins (2-1)

Yes i chose my own team again, but this one is kind of important. The Scarborough Stampede and Cerebral Assassins have been rivals going at it since season 15, when both teams were newly promoted to D.II.1. The two teams have faced 9 times, 8 league games and 1 playoff game, of the 9, the Stampede have won 6, Assasins 3, but the Assasins took the coveted playoff win. Both teams are expected to finish top of the Big 8 conference, and to contend for championship. The Stampede are trying to continue their win streak, while the Assasins are trying to comeback from their early season upset against the Montreal Visoreds.

Key match up tonight
Point Guards
Xie Runliang (11775247) - Scarborough Stampede
vs
Kjeld Barthel (5768040) - Cerebral Assasins
