Season review
Hello everyone, here's the recap of this consolation tournament.
We've ended 33rd out of 86th during the first phase with a 5-3 record and only down 5pts of point average to take the last qualifiying seed for the elimination round.
As already said many times, we had an horendous schedule given 6 of our 8 opponents have qualified to the elimination round. Two of them, Portugal and Slovenia, are still competiting for the semifinals.
All that being said, let's talk about the roster's performances.
First team
PG : Kostadin Spasov - 19,5 pts (52%) 3,5 reb 4 ast
SG : Borislav Iliev - 11,5 pts (53%) 2,6 reb 2,3 ast
SF : Todor Ragin - 11,3 pts (45%) 3,3 reb 1,6 ast
PF : Lütfullah Hasan Can - 6,5 pts (28%) 8 reb 2,6 ast
C : Koryun Petikyan - 11,6 pts (46%) 11,1 reb 0 ast
6th man : Nikola Petkov - 4,4 pts (32%) 2,7 reb 2,9 ast
MVP : Kostadin Spasov
He led our team on the offense and wasn't a liability defensively. He's been well secounded by Petikyan who was our best defender and rebounder.
Overall, we had a good roster but there was some real weaknesses. We had no true SF and our starting PF, Dimitar Vasilev, has never been in shape. Luckily, the two young interiors trained by atanasovvv were there to help Can, who had a well rounded profile but was limited by his low potential.
On the outside, we could only count on the NT prospects, meaning a low OD in the beginning of the season and a low JS/JR combo giving us no opportunity to use outside offense. Anyways, these guards have been really good this season and I can't imagine what we would have achieved without them.
Once again I'd like to thank each manager who partipated during the last 4 seasons, either by training or giving feedbacks on the forum. And of course a big thank you to mink0ff who helped me a lot for the scounting and provided many good players to the U21 NT.
