Well well, the seasons only two games old but most teams are looking very close this season. Be interesting to see who decides to make a run for it, or who decides to tank it out.
The Great 8 BHB and Coins are looking like the teams to beat this season, and I would think the chumps, even with their poor start, will be making a run for it sooner or later. Heres a recap of the Tuesday Night games!
Vis Maior vs. peaceNroll 84 - 90 (56163502(http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/56163502/boxscore.aspx)Well PNR's team came out to play in their 1st home game of the season. I knew I was going to be behind in Enthusiasm this game and rather than throwing it, decided to go for the win with another PAN.
It did come down to the final minutes and with PNRs two starters taking injuries, i thought the VM crew might steal a win. However good D stopped any further assault and PNR came out deserving winners by 6.
Good impact 48min game by PNR trainee Kostis Nikoloyiannis. He's looking good as a outside SF.
Johnterbury Bulldogs vs. Chumunga 112 - 100 (56163501) (http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/56163501/boxscore.aspx)Prolly the match and upset of the night. A nice early TV game and the Bulldogs went crunch time and pulled off a remarkable 4th quarter to win by 12. It was a close game through the first 3 quarters but the extra effort put in by the Bulldogs really showed in the 4th.
PG Cousins the standout of the night for the Bulldogs with 32 pts from the PG position. Bulldogs are now 2 of 2 in their first Div II games. On the other side, ABBL demote Chumps are now 0 of 2. Ouchie!
Melbourne Redbacks vs. North Carlton Cavaliers 100 - 110 (56163503(http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/56163503/boxscore.aspx)Both teams took it easy in this match up, but there was no love lost between these old dogs. NCC's outside defence the stand out in this game, giving them the W with a nice +11 pt 3rd quarter.
Both teams should be strong in their next match ups. Watch out for the NCC as a outside chance to push deep into the season and playoffs.
Pittura Rosso vs. The Bongo players 75 - 79 (56163504)(http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/56163504/boxscore.aspx)Bongos came up with a Nice W at home tonight, with their new players marking their territory and pulling off a close win. The Pitt Rossos put more into this game and this might cost them their next few games in this tight Div 2 league.
puffy_jnch vs. Billy Hoyles Boys 69 - 88 (56163505)(http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/56163505/boxscore.aspx)Well BHB were the deserving favorites at home against the cheats, however the game was relatively close until the 4th quarter where BHB's team showed their class and kicked the cheats ass. Standout for BHB was their PG M.Edwards who shot 9/16 and 4/6 from the 3pt line.
The cheats (puffy) now go 0 and 2 while BHB remain defeated.
Melbourne Demons vs. Coin Collectors 77 - 93 (56163506) (http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/56163506/boxscore.aspx)Well the Coins certainly did spend a lot of coin early this season and early in this game, it looked like the coin was wasted. However the Coins came good at home with huge 2nd and 4th quarters to easily take the W by 16 pts. Standout for the coins being the 125k center Pupovac. Be a interesting team to watch once game shape and enthusiasm becomes a bigger factor.
Demons looked promising early, possibly need some stamina training to keep their players going strong! Coins join BHB as undefeated so far this season!
Nevada Saucers vs. Henley Beach Hawks 68 - 88 (56163507) (http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/56163507/boxscore.aspx)Saucers looked good early but fell apart late in the game to lose this one on the road. Largely due to training mins I believe.
Might be a long season for both these teams as the Great 8 looks strong this season!
