How good of a player the game rates them.
There might be 5 ball Star Rating who has a salary of 5000 but, has secondaries of 1 1 1 1 1 1.
So his Grade rating might be a C.

so if a player had 7 ID, 7 R, and 7 IS but had 1 in everything else he would be a five star C player?

Grade rating is a more accurate indication of current skills (Star Rating). So a player with 5 Star rating could be A+, A or A- which are like sublevels.
